7 month old and still has hands in fists? Normal?

My SIL's baby is almost 7 months old and still has his hands in fists most of the time? It's really weird. Also...he moves his arms in a really weird way (like making the figure 8 kind of). We were talking about it last night at dinner and she wants to know if it's normal. She is afraid it's a sign of something (she said autism and I said NO)! wdyt?

    I say if she's worried she should be talking to her pediatrician, not wondering what strangers on a message board think.  It doesn't sound normal to me, but I'm not doctor.

    She plans on it at her appt. in a few weeks. She was just curious if anyone else has a DC like this.

    definitely take a pediatrician's suggestions over the board. but as i read that- even before i got to the end of your post- autism came to mind. i spent five years working in the mental health field with children and that was something my kids did a lot. hopefully all is right with your SIL's little one!
