How many of you are planning games or activities for the children at your LO's first birthday party and, if so, what are you planning? They seem so little.
Ours is going to be outside, with about 10 other adults and four other kids, so I think mainly the kids will just be exploring, playing at the playground, etc. Then, I'm having a Minnie Mouse themed party, so I was thinking of maybe letting them try to toddle up to a big Minnie Mouse silhouette and "pin the bow on Minnie" (NOT blindfolded!)... though, I think they're probably still too young for that and will end up eating her bow! Maybe I'll have some bottles of bubbles so they can blow bubbles with their parents.... any other ideas? Maybe a simple craft they could do with their parents?
Re: Activities at 1st birthday party?
I think I'd just let them enjoy being outside, especially if there's a playground nearby. We had 5 kids at our party at our house, they just ran around with each other, played at the sand table, and on our swingset. I did have a lot of those bubble wands you can pick up at the dollar store (some of the kids were older & were able to do the bubbles themselves, so I wanted to have a few so everyone could have one)

BFP!! 8/29/16 --> EDD: 5/11/17....it's a GIRL!!!
We are not, because we'll have 7 kids. (2) 1-year-olds, (1) 10 month old, and the rest are 4, 5, 7 and 9. The "older" kids just want to hang out with the adults and play yard games with them, or bring their gloves and baseballs to practice pitching.
Our niece's 1st birthday was Saturday and SIL had activities for the kids. But I'm pretty certain there were 20 kids there! She had a little coloring table set up, and aprons. Also, a decorate your own cupcake bar. The party theme was cupcakes!
We had a bear themed party, so my mom ran some games for the kids based loosely around the book Going on a Bear Hunt (which she changed to make all the kids bears that were going on a picnic). They did a little Easter egg-like hunt for berries (balls from the ball pit spread on the ground), through some "bees" (also balls) into a honey pot, and fished with magnetic rods. It was super cute - we had about 15 kids, most of whom are between 2-3 years old. Joey liked collecting the balls the best.
We also did Pin the Cupcake on Cupcake Bear, which was better for the 5 and 6 year olds.
