LOs had been until his second top middle tooth came in and he has a gap I'm hoping it will close up some eventually, although, I just read that its actually a good thing because it leaves space for permanent teeth. Oh well.
Straight, but he has a huge gap between his front top two. After a little prodding from my ped, he did admit he will probably need braces. DS has a thick piece of gum that is connected to his inner lip that will keep them from even moving much closer. It could probably use some clipping, but they do not do it. He said it will eventually separate on it's own one day when he falls. I'm sure your LO will be fine and my situation is non-typical.

They are basically just space maintainers for the adult teeth. The adult teeth are much much bigger than the baby teeth and therefore will need more room when they come in...
Ok this post makes me feel much better. The men in my hisband's family all have a gap between the top two teeth. I was really hoping Levi would get my straight teeth that required no dental work. I'm glad that there is still hope for that to happen.
DD has a gap between her 2 front teeth as well. Hers may not close if she has my genes, though. I had to wear braces twice because I had several issues with my bite/teeth and I'm still wearing my retainer today (just while sleeping) at 30 years old, lol.

that's exactly why I posted this! I've always secretly hoped LO would get my teeth. DH and his mom and grandma all have the same exact teeth and they have a gap there. DH had braces to fix his, though.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I don't think baby teeth are necessarily an indicator of what adult teeth will be like. MH's baby teeth were straight, but his adult teeth were AWFUL. His parent's couldn't afford braces when he was little and it took 2 surgeries and almost 5 years of braces to fix them as an adult.
If DD gets his teeth she will be seeing an ortho ASAP.
Re: Are your baby's teeth straight?
