I'm going to give the oddball answer here - but the part that hurt the most was when they pushed on my stomach/uterus after labor to check for bloodclots/after-birth and check the position of my uterus. They did this several times after she was born.
No one had warned me that this would hurt (I did have substantial blood clots that I passed for days afterwards) - I cried and screamed. I wished my epi was still in place, it hurt so freakin bad.
I had an epi, which wore off before pushing, and pushing wasn't as hard as I imagined.
I was contracting from 11pm to 9:30am but they weren't painful. However, when the midwife broke my water at 9:30, all hell broke loose. The contractions BY FAR were the most painful thing. The rest was pretty easy.
I would say the pitocin contractions right on top of each other was the worst.
Yep the pit contractions were the most painful. I planned on going med free but at the point where my ctx were 30 seconds apart and I was only 5 cm, I begged for an epi.
For me, the contractions (I had pitocin) before I got the epidural. Man, those were bad. I remember I kept looking at my husband and kept saying "these are bad news. Bad news bears." Thankfully, I got my epidural at 2 cm, after that it was a piece of cake.
I got to the hospital and was in massive pain from contractions, almost falling over from the pain. Then they told me I was only 1 1/2 centimeters and that they would probably send me home. At that point I thought I was going to go into shock because there was no way in helllll that I was leaving there in that kind of pain. I had to walk for an hour and I got to 3 cms. I was admitted and got the epi about 4cm. After the epi there was not pain whatsoever.
I'd say the contractions hurt the most too. Especially the ones at the end -during transition. I went naturally because she was born so fast-literally I was admitted at 7:30pm and DD was born at 10:04pm. I was very lucky. Pushing feels good though crazy enough.
I agree with the previous postings about labor. Don't freak yourself out. The baby's got to come out some way or another and chances are good its not going to last the rest of your life. Good luck though and I hope you have a quick labor like I did.
