How long did it take nystatin to work?

DD#2 was diagnosed with a yeast infection yesterday and we started applying hte nystatin cream whenever we change her diapers. How long should it take before it starts to clear up? Thanks!

  • For us it was a solid two weeks. Don't stop early because that can motivate the yeast to step it up and be even harder to fight.

  • 24 hours to see a change in the rash... 3 days until it was gone completely. We used it twice a day for two weeks afterward, as per docs orders. :)

  • We noticed maybe a 30% change for the better by the next day, but it took pretty much the whole tube to clear it up. FWIW for the second yeast infection DS had the dr recommended monistat. It worked much quicker. Obviously it can only be applied topically on boys, but for girls it can only be used topically as well.
