Just a little PSA on water breaking

I know someone who just had their LO a few days ago. I just heard from a mutual friend that her water broke on her way into work (literally, walking through the doors) so she had to leave, but her car was on E. She had to go into the gas station, with a sweatshirt tied around her waist, to pay. So, moral of the story is keep your tank full! I could totally see this happening to me :/

  • Hahaha I was totally thinking about this on the way home from work today, since my DH is out of town for the weekend and my car is on E!  I felt like my crazy grandmother, all paranoid about nothing, but I guess I'm not alone!

  • This would totally happen to me! Thankfully I work right down the street from the hospital I'll be delivering at.

  • Thanks for the heads up!  I'm notorious for having my car on E, I didn't even think about this being an issue!

  • I have a fear of my water breaking at embarrassing moments. I decided that I am going to place one of those big pads (like puppy pads) on the car seat and keep a spare pair of shorts or something in the car in case I need to change.

  • We have to make sure of this just because it is a 1/2 hour ride to the hospital!  I don't want to have to be stopping for gas on the way.

  • I could see this happening but I would just get out and take a cab.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • My water broke with DS. I was always terrified it would break and I would be out at the grocery store with a full cart of groceries or something.

A few weeks ago I started wearing panty liners for light discharge, and once I get a little farther I will switch to a thin pad... just in CASE. :)

  • So thankfully I am not driving right now because I am horrible for leaving the car on E...definitely needing to remember to bring pads though. With my daughter my plug came a loose and had nothing to protect my clothes....going to put some in my purse now. THANKS Big Smile

My mom actually told me to do this. With her first (me!) her water broke int he checkout lane at the grocery store. She was wearing a skirt and she was able to go to the store bathroom and put on a maxi pad, but once she sat in the car it just gushed and the car seats were stained (as was her water). After that my dad always kept a couple of puppy wee pads in the glove compartment when my mom was pregnant with my brothers.

  • A day late here....but puppy pads for your seat and keep a diaper or 2 handy(those newborn/size 1's laying around are perfect :) ).  WAY better absorbancy than maxi pads!
