Toddlers: 24 Months+

No meat???

DD has recently started refusing most meats. She will always eat eggs, chicken nuggets and sometimes meatballs but nothing else. She LOVES starches and usually asks for just rice or mashed potatoes.  She doesn't like veggies (so I usually give her fruit and vegetable juices) so giving her beans is out of the question.  Any suggestions?  Anyone else going through/ went through this?

  • Try tofu.  It's a great finger food, stir-fry, or just serve it plain with rice.

  • If she's still drinking whole milk, protein is 1 gram to 1 ounce and most sources say toddlers need 16 grams of protein a day. So really, she might not even need the meat. If you're looking for more sources of protein though: eggs, lentil soup, and hummus are great sources. And that rice she's likes, it also has protein in it ;)

She loves yogurt and will eat it every chance we give her :-)

  • Try mixing in Greek yogurt with her normal yogurt for an extra shot of protein.
