I'm going in for my second appointment today. Typically, it doesn't bother me that I have a male OBGYN. He can look at my vag all day if he wants to. However, today I have to ask about the bumps that I've found on my labia (3 tiny little bumps that I'm blowing out of proportion and assuming are cancer or an STD). I also have what may be a swollen gland of some sort on my right breast, by my nipple. Clearly I'm 12 and have a hard time saying labia, breast, and nipple to a man. I'm a moron.

Re: Today I wish I had a female gyno..(TMI)
Tee hee...nipple.
I'm sure your OB doesn't mind, I bet he's had a million patients says stuff awkwardly to him and he won't even notice!
If it makes you feel better every time H says "wiener" I giggle like a little girl.
I have male dentists, PCPs, dermatologists and what have you, but no male Ob/Gyns.
No, you're not.
I'm like you, I even have trouble with my female Gyno. At my first appointment, she had to keep asking me to spread my legs wider because I kept trying to close my knees.
Same here. My coirkers say that I won't care after I have a baby in front of 10 people, but I highly doubt my preference will ever change.
My preference definitely didn't change. The only male present at the birth was a resident...and we joked it was one of 3 vaginas he had ever seen in his life. I definitely love my female OB...and if it comes down to any reason why I typically say "small hands" LOL
I have always felt more comfortable with a man... my first OB was a man and I think I have seen a woman once, and I got all self conscious.
