I have to admit, I am super jealous of the SAHM peeps. I make 2x the salary of DH, so financially it makes no sense for me to quit. Darn it for falling for a cop-he looks good in his uniform but he is isn't exactly making it rain with the Benjamin's.
I am hoping to take a part time assignment soon. I obsessively stalk the internal job openings and wait for the assignment. I will stay in my current spot until it opens up, but I will be taking the full 12 weeks of leave no matter what. But dang, I wish I could just stay home!
I'm hoping to stay home for at least the first 6 months, and then we will see how we're doing financially. I'm a nanny, so if I do need to work, I will either be watching another child in our home or else bringing our child with me to work, so I will still be with LO all day.

Hubby and I are both stay at home parents, for the most part. I help out my SIL with her work on Friday and Sunday and he'll have to go somewhere for work once a week. Other than that we are home and love it!
I'm probably going to be a SAHM, at least for a little while...
DH put in for a lateral transfer back to the office he started in that is 1,200 miles away in New England. We met in Atlanta while he was on a 6-week project, dated long distance, and then he tranferred/was promoted in order for us to be together.
I may have the option to work remotely and/or part-time remotely for my current company but I may end up a SAHW in late fall and probably won't try to interview at 6 months+ pregnant... LOL, I can just imagine the people interviewing me and giving me a big fat 'thanks for coming in, we'll get back to you' + a side-eye... a.k.a. NO!
I plan to be a SAHM. It will be a huge pay cut but hopefully we'll make it work.
I can't believe how little mat leave you guys get. Is it really just 12 weeks????? That seems inhumane. We get something in the ballpark of 52 weeks (I say in the ballpark 'cause there is mat leave and parental leave and you combine them and can split some of them with your husband so both of you can be home for a few months together). I just don't get how you can be expected back at work so soon.

I will be staying home for about 7 months and then going back to work. Baby is due Jan. 26th and I plan on taking the remaining school year off and go back for a new school year in August.
PCOS and Hypothyroidism- Successful IUI's- May 2012 and October 2014. Miscarriage @ 6w3d in December 2009.
I plan to be a SAHM. It will be a huge pay cut but hopefully we'll make it work.

Do you live in Canada or Scandinavia?
Standard American maternity leave is actually only 6 weeks (I think 8 weeks in the case of a c-section?) and is UNPAID in most cases. It sucks, big time.

6 weeks?? That is disgusting. Really and truly it is. (so "nice" of them to give you an extra 2 weeks for a c-section).
For us it is paid at something like 50% of your salary but some employers (mine included) top that up to 70-95% (my employer is 95% I think). And in my province the standard (without employer top up) is 75% of your salary. And that's for a year. Some are even saying it may be extended to 18 months in the next few years.
This is the second time I've heard that you guys get so little mat leave (I think I read it in a magazine article a few years back) and both times I've been floored. What is the reasoning behind that? Corporate greed?
