I met with the OB today. My boy is measuring in the 97th percentile. My OB says there's a limit to what they allow to attempt vaginal delivery - 5,000 grams. According to measurements he was 3,900g ten days ago. We talked about options and they said I have two options. 1) try vaginal birth on Week 39 or 2) schedule a c-section on Week 39.
I have cervix issues already (surgery when I was 14) and had bleeding issues with my d&c 2 yrs ago. So the OB and I decided that going right to c-section would allow them to get a big baby out safest. I'm nervous. Good thing two of the OBs said it was the right decision for me and LO.
Re: scheduled c-section
Good luck! Is the date scheduled yet?
The benefit of having a planned c-section is that you know exactly when LO will be born so you can prepare a little bit better and stop wondering when he/she will come. I hope everything works out well for you!
Surgery is set for 6/8/12 at 10am. I am a control freak by nature so I appreciate the scheduled aspect. But I am fixating a bit on the unknown/scary bits like the epidural, sensation of major surgery while awake, recovery, being able to bond w/ LO...
I think the planner part of me would like this about a c-section. GL & I can't wait to see pics of your LO!
