2nd Trimester

big u/s measurements

We had our big u/s last week. I remember seeing on the screen that the measurements were 17 weeks 3 days. For some reason, at the time I was thinking I was 17 weeks so I didn't think anything of it. For my last 2 babies I measured about 3-4 days ahead on the u/s which meant nothing (they were both overdue). It just dawned on me that I should've been 18 weeks exactly (this is according to the measurements at my 9 week u/s, which measured a few days *ahead* of what my LMP put me at) . The tech said everything looked great and I don't see the dr for another couple of weeks. Just wondering if this is normal or if I should be concerned.

Re: big u/s measurements

  •  Don't think its anthing to worry about, my U/S had me about 5 days ahead of what we expected too. I think its pretty common for that to happen, could mean that your due date could come a little earlier based on the baby's' measurements.

  • My post may have been a little confusing...I measured 4 days BEHIND what my first u/s had me at.

  • Don't worry about it, unless your dr does. I went in for my 24 week checkup 2 weeks ago and baby boy was measuring 4 weeks ahead (fundal height). The growth scan showed him measuring about 2 weeks ahead.

  • I read somewhere that after first trimester is over babies, much like children, grow at different rates.  Measuring only 4 days behind what you think you should be doesn't sound like cause for concern to me, especially if they didn't say anything to you.
