In hot, sticky Maryland with broken A/C...

I burst out crying last night at dinner because I just could NOT cool down!  It's amazing the kind of extra heat a baby will generate...  DH ran and got me an ice pack, a popsicle and he dove into the attic to get down our window unit a/c...  What an angel.  :-)

What are you all doing to stay cool??  I just made myself a watermelon/strawberry smoothie (3c. frozen watermelon, 1 c. frozen strawberries, 1 c. water, dash of lemon juice, dash of sea salt and some honey = SO freakin good!) and am sitting in front of fans.

Hoping we get a repair guy out here stat!

It's a miserably dry, hot, windless 93 degrees out here in OK, and our A/C isn't working right, either. Sad, sad panda. I'm currently sitting on a freezer gel pack, with another on the back of my neck, and another wedged up under my boobs, I have a huge fan going, and I'm guzzling one glass of ice-cold water after another. I'm hot-natured anyway, so it's getting pretty ridiculous over here.

    Edit: accidentally typed 96 degrees.

  • I do not have air conditioner in my classroom, so I feel your pain.  Unfortunately, I doubt it will get fixed in the six days I have left with my students.  It's bad enough that I sweat while sitting down, I fear how bad it will be once I am actively packing and moving boxes out of my room.  Yikes! I tend to be very cold-natured, so being hot like this is new to me.  Even though the air works in our apartment, I sweat my booty off in the morning while getting ready for work! I have to turn the air down to 68.  I never had to do that in the past! It is insane!

  • Glad I'm not alone.......

I'm originally from the midwest (northern Wisconsin) and am so not used to the humid hotness out here.   Yuck.

Let's keep those fans running ladies!!!  Good luck!

  • Thanks!!!  We're over near Annapolis and thankfully the rain cooled things off a smidge last night.  It's not nearly as bad as it was the past couple days...  I can't imagine working with high school kids and being that pregnant let alone with no a/c... YIKES.

Looking forward to our family vacation to Michigan/Wisconsin next week.  Hellooooooo cool weather!  Can't wait.
