how do you ladies stay working through the first trimester? i am 10 weeks pregnant and working in a preschool with 20 4 year olds all day everyday. i swear im calling in because im sick at least once a week. im ready to quit working and just stay at home. how do you ladies cope with feeling terrible and work?
Re: ladies with M/S
My first pregnancy was horrible with m/s, I was puking 10-12 times a day and just felt horrible. Everyone kept saying it would get better and it did, I went down to only puking 5 times a day for the rest of the pregnancy...
I had to excuse myself from clients several times to run to the bathroom which is so embarrassing. Luckily most people are totally understanding and sympathetic to you not feeling well while pregnant.
If you absolutely must call in then do it but my advice is to tough it out when you can. If you can afford to quit and stay home it's your choice but hopefully it will get better for you soon.
Ask your doctor about a vitamin B supplement or try going to the chiropractor, both helped me get some relief.Good luck!
As for right now...I am a SAHM who babysits, and I just take it day by day. I have my kids here so I just try to focus on putting on a happy face for them and getting through each day. It sucks but I know it won't last forever.
If you knew how lonely my life has been And how long I've been so alone And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along And change my life the way you've done
Make a pregnancy ticker
1/1 Spotting, 1/3 beta 36,000, 1/5 u/s empty sac measuring 7w (9w5d), 1/6 d&c

I have tried every remedy known to man. B6 and unisom did nothing. Ginger gum helped take an edge off. I work full time and can't afford to quit. I kept a trash can in an empty office down the hall and during week 7 and 8 was worth nothing at work. Spent most of my time walking from my desk to a trash can.
Zofran during the day and Phenegran at night seemed to work together for me, but during week 9 I think I hit my peak with m/s, and now it's just occasional and mostly around lunch time. I truly didn't think I was going to survive - I HATE throwing up.
I feel for ya :-(
I was in my final clinical internship about to graduate nursing school when I found out I was PG with this baby. I was on a GI/Gynecologic surgical oncology floor where the majority of my patients had colostomies or ileostomies, and part of my job duties included emptying all their surgical drains and ostomy bags at the end of my shift and measuring the output. Now, it's bad enough having to smell what comes out of those bags when you're not PG. Imagine having to do it with pregnancy nose!
For me, spearmint gum is my saving grace. My m/s was much worse with my first pregnancy than this one, and nothing seemed to relieve my nausea besides spearmint. As long as I chew a piece of spearmint gum after each meal it helps keep the nausea at bay. Keep in mind having an empty stomach only makes nausea worse, so it's best to try and eat small frequent meals throughout the day.
My ms was awful and started as soon as I woke up. I had to call the nurse at my doctors office because I cannot call in sick to work. They have been working like a charm. I take 1/2 a Zofran when I 1st wake up & then take 1/2 a Phenergan when I go to bed.
