Epidural question / pain relief ?

Hi ladies! Has anyone had another pain relief besides an epidural? With dd I had a horrible terrible reaction to epidural. I got soooo itchy at one point I tried pulling all the tubes and wires out and totally freaked out...they said they hadn't seen a reaction like that in years. 

 

So I am now KU with baby number 2 and already terrified of labor. Is there any other pain relief options out there?

    Before I had epidural I had stadol(sp?) and it was ok. It baisically knocked me out for 45 min at a time and then I would wake back up in pain again and get another dose.
