If you were induced I was wondering how long the whole process took. (I am already at 3 cm.) My OB said she would let me start having contractions and then come in to break my water. How long does it take to start having contractions? How long did it take until you started pushing? I know everyone is different, I just want an idea of what others have gone through.
Any other advice?
Re: Were you induced?
Do you REALLY want to know?
Admitted Tuesday, had my c-section Friday afternoon. I had contraction as soon as they started the pitocin.
It started having contractions within 15-30 minutes of them starting the pitocin. It took about 8 hours or so before they really became painful (we went REALLY slowly on the pitocin), and I started pushing 19 hours after the induction began. It was a long process for me, but it's much shorter for a lot of women.
She probably DIDN'T want to know.
Short version:
-Induction with pitocin started @7am at 1cm and 80%. I was showing contractions but not feeling them.
-Water broke at noon and felt contractions immediately.
-By 11pm I was 10cm and 100% and ready to push.
Just be prepared for a long wait and bring books, magazines, movies, laptop or whatever will keep you occupied. Try to sleep during the wait. Eat before you go if you can because most likely they will not let you eat once the induction starts. Good Luck!
Admitted Sunday evening. Contrax started right away. Had C- Section Monday evening... Not nearly as bad as JAR, but terrible none the less.
Only get induced if medically needed.
Cervadil at 7:00 pm Th, Pitocin at 7:00 am Fri, started pushing after 11 am, had her at 12:30 pm.

::I can do this:: ::I can do this::
I was 1cm when i went in....
started pit. at 9am
2cm 10am
3cm 11am
Broke water at 11am
4cm at 12pm
5cm at 1pm
6cm at 2pm
10cm at 2:05pm (yes 4cm in 5min..hurt so bad)
started pushing at 2:10
DS was born at 2:23
The last part of my labor went super fast...so no epi for me.
Mine was similar to NManager. I was also 4cm when I went in. The pitocin was started at 9:30am and I was 6cm by 10:00am. I wasn't checked again until 1:00pm when I was complete. So for me it went pretty fast! Good luck!
honestly?
The induction took 34 hours from when I was admitted (at 2 cm) until I started pushing. I didn;t start contracting until about 24 hours in. I started pushing 34 hours later. 4 hours after started pushing, they prepped me for a c-section.
My induction worked...I got to 10 cm and depsite the annoyance of not being able to sleep b/c of the monitors, it was fine. However, I would not do it again.
I was admitted at 10 a.m. on Sunday, dilated to 3 & 70 percent, misoprostol inserted at 12 p.m., pitocin started at 2 p.m., pitocin "cranked up" at 5 p.m., broke my water at 7:30, fully dilated and effaced by 9 p.m. started pushing at 10 p.m. baby born at 10:42 p.m.
Overall, I was very fortunate with an easy L&D.
First one: 12 hours
2nd time: 6hours
3rd time: 6 hours
My water broke on the first one about 6hours into it (while I was getting the epidural--LOL), water was broken the 2nd one about 3 hours into it, 3rd one she broke the water very soon after I got there (less than 1 hour).
