Strange habit...

So when my baby is sleepy he tends to scratch his head like crazy!! Sometimes its when he is finally falling asleep and then he suddenly starts waking up and then starts trying to scratch his head. I feel like he is frustrated sometimes  and I get scared that he may scratch his head up bad too, even though I do cut his nails short. He also does this as he is waking up at night for his feedings.

Does anyone else's baby do this too? Any suggestions on how to stop him from doing this?? He no longer likes getting swaddled and cries if he is confined like that. Also holding his arms down is a struggle lol

    Yep...  DS2 does this.  He has long hair, too, so his fingers get tangled in his hair.  On top of the scratching of his scalp, then he rips some of his hair out.

    Pedi said that if he's doing any damage, that we should put socks over his hands when he goes to bed at night.

    I don't mind doing that if it ever gets bad enough.  For now, he's not making himself bleed, nor is he waking himself up.

    Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah, I think I will wait to do that when it gets bad, which I hope it doesn't. My boy has long curly hair and it does get badly tangled as well, makes me feel terrible...
