What did you eat the night before your 3 hr GD test?

My Ob's office only does the 2 hour and they said to eat very low carb the night before which i believe is the same as the 3 hr test, so what did you eat the night before?

  • I wasn't given any instructions so I ate what I normally would, to get accurate results.

  • I had grilled chicken and some cheese, then a glass of milk. I passed the 3 hour, but I have no idea what my numbers were. Good luck!

Not to confuse you but you're supposed to eat high carb before the 3 horus test. You fast for 12 hours prior but I was given a diet plan with a minimum of 100 grams of carb per meal. As I understand it, eating too low carb prior to the test can make you have a false positive.

This exactly.I was given a very specific diet plan that was not low carb.

  • I was also told to eat "more carbs than usual", and cut back on sugar three days prior.

I think I will have pasta the night before, something that can hold me over for the 12 hour fast.

    Good luck!

  • My doc told me to eat normally prior to my 12 hour fast. Which is probably pretty high carb. He also said reducing carbs could cause a false positive (he said something about shocking the pancreas???).
  • Chicken broccoli and rice and I passed- I ate no sugar and low fruits for 3 days prior.

I didn't have to do anything special the night before.  My test was last Monday, so I ate a normal Sunday's dinner with dessert.  30 mins. prior to drinking the glucose drink I had a lite breakfast.  I passed the test no problems here.
  • I was placed on a 3 day 2000 calorie diet before my 3-hour test, the diet is based on the diet exchange.

For dinner the body before i had 3 oz. grilled chicken breast, 1 cup of grilled asparagus, 1 cup salad greens with tomatoes and light ranch dressing, while wheat roll and 8 oz of milk.

  • I ate what I would normally.  I wanted to pass based on an accurate representation of what I normally ate. I didn't want to spend 3 days eating differently and pass but yet had I eaten normally I would have failed.  To me, I didn't think that would be healthy for my baby--what if i actually had GD based on a normal diet  ut it got missed because i cut out everything--does that make sense? Of course I am not talking about a DR specific diet to get accurate results.
