Swim diaper that's also a swimsuit?

I saw these cute swim diapers on Zulily today that are also swimsuits made by Kushies! Anyone used these before? I'm hoping to start baby going to the pool next month and have no experience at all with these sort of things.

Re: Swim diaper that's also a swimsuit?

  • It's cheaper to just get a regular suit and either get a cloth swim diaper or use disposable swim diapers.

    That looks silly, IMO.

Honestly, I have no idea why they'd make the swim diaper part of the swimsuit. If your child poops at the pool, you change them just like at home and throw the diaper away. I've seen the ones where the diaper is stitched to the swimsuit at the store, and I can't figure out how you're supposed to use them.

We swim every day with our LO (she's 2) and we put her in a regular swimsuit and a disposable swim diaper (Huggies Little Swimmers). The swim diaper is really just a non-absorbent diaper that is made to catch solids. If she needs a clean diaper, I take her to the restroom, tear the sides of the pull on swim diaper open, and throw it away. It seems like if it was stitched to the swimsuit, you'd have to put on a whole new swimsuit each time you changed your child.

  • eh, i think they are kinda cute.

i have boys so i just put them in a cloth swim diaper and nothing else, this would seem like the same sort of thing but for girls. seems easier than putting a suit on over the swim diaper, the moms of girls in our class are always struggling.

in many months of swimming ive never had to change them during pool time, im not sure how i would even know if they pooped, they are in the water so its not like you smell it, and as little babies they are only in for like 30 min or 45 before they get out and dressed.

I have a suit with a built in diaper for DD. I got it at Carter's on clearance and I use it when I put her in the little baby pool on the deck. It's worked out fine but I probably wouldn't use it if I were going to a public pool or anyplace outside the house.
  • Hrm.  We cloth diaper, so we either use a cloth diaper without an insert or a reusable swim diaper.  They're cute and sometimes we just let DS run around in the reusable swim diaper with a rashguard on!

  • I read reviews of the Kushies swim diapers, boy and girl styles, and it sounds like everyone loves them. Since they're such a good deal, I think I'll buy two and if we have to do a "diaper change" at the pool I'll have a spare.

This.  The point of a swim diaper is that it's disposable.  If LO poops in it, I sure as hell don't want to take it home clean it (and be without a swim suit in the meantime).  I'd much rather just throw it in the trash.
