Pregnant after a Loss

Do you think... (recurring losses mentioned)

So, I know that each baby you have, you tend to show earlier etc. This is my 6th pregnancy. My 4 miscarriages never made it past 8 wks though... but do you think they could each add up to make me seem further along this time? Hmmm.. dunno but I have killer bloat going on and look much further along than I really am.

A bumpie said that working out really helped her to beat the bloat. Looks like I will be hitting the gym in the morning!

I don't think so since nothing is really stretched out by that time - but rocking the bloat definitely is common!

  • I would say yes. I have had three miscarriages that never made it past 9 weeks. Currently I am only 8 weeks, however the first u/s at 8 weeks was showing healthy with a great HB and that is further then we have made it before. I look like I am at least four, maybe five months along! I mean, there is NO denying that I am pregnant, or I have to say I have some sort of strange illness that is bloating me terribly badly! I definitely think that my body's muscle memory is in full swing and is strongly affected by my previous five pregnancies. Congrats on your little one! H&H 9 months to you!

  • I doubt it, because part of the reason that you show earlier if you've had prior pregnancies is that those muscles/ligaments have already stretched before and therefore aren't as tight now as they used to be.

I do have one DS, but I will say that I am significantly more bloated this time than I was with my other two pregnancies.  I'm not sure if that's because I'm on progesterone suppositories this time, though.

  • I think my progesterone is going that too. Sometimes this bloat is really hard to hide!

This is what I was going to say. I would highly doubt it.  Intense bloat makes sense though.

  • I also already look about 4 months along. I do have a 14 year-old DD, and have had 3 very early m/c's. Part of my belly is that my ovaries are still so large from the stims (we did IVF) and part from the bloat. Although, I did show pretty early with my first, so I might just be that way and maybe you are too. I agree though that it's not likely that those early m/c's stretched your ligaments and uterus enough to make you show so early.

  • I spoke with my Dr. about this during my last pregnancy and she assured me that it was totally normal. She said it was in fact a form of "muscle memory" and that with subsequent pregnancies our bodies sometimes will become larger and show much sooner. Usually we all catch up at about 6 or 7 months, so no worries about being absolutely huge at the end of this pregnancy. This seems to be what I am experiencing, perhaps this is what you are as well.

  • This is my 6th pregnancy as well with the previous 4 all ending by 10 weeks.  And I'm going to guess that I won't show any earlier than I would if it was truly my second pregnancy.  My uterus and muscles have only truly been stretched once and I *think* that's what makes you show earlier.

Of course, I'm only 6 weeks KU right now, so I may change my mind about this theory in a couple weeks.  LOL.  I have noticed more bloat on progesterone though - and that includes my non-pregnant cycles where I was taking it in my luteal phase.
