Ladies, I lurk here a lot but need help desperately, please!
We are expecting boy/girl twins this summer and he is destined to never get a name! Our last name is Scott, so I need a name with a 2 syllable nick name. Our daughter is Emily (nn Emmy, and very rarely Em).
The girl twin will be Sidney Paige
His middle name will be Foster, which I do not like as a first name.
Some of the first names we have debated are:
Colin (eh???)
Blake (Blake Scott - too make K sounds?)
DH likes Anderson, I am not sold
Carson
Noah
Tyler
You would not believe the list we have rejected! Any suggestions? It is really nicknames that are killing us. Like Joseph is nice, but Joe Scott we don't like.
So hit me please with your boy names that work with Scott and have multi-syllable nicknames please!
thanks!!

Re: help before I name him "Baby Boy" PLEASE!
Why aren't you sold on Anderson? I love Anderson Scott. Sounds great. Anderson and Sidney Scott. Works to my ears.
But why do you need a 2-syllable nn at all? Can't he just go by Anderson ( or Colin or Noah)?

Carson doesn't work for me, as there is a dept store chain I think named Carson Pirie Scott (or something like that) and that was the first thing I thought of.
Noah sounds nice, and I like Anderson as well.
I actually really, really like Anderson. As pp have said, I think it sounds great with Scott, and Emily, Sidney, and Anderson are a great sibset.
From your list, I also like Colin and Noah.
Some options with 2 syllable nicknames: Alexander (Alex or Xander as nn), William (Liam as nn?), Elijah (nn Eli), Andrew (nn Andy), Nathaniel (nn Nathan?), Jonathan (nn Johnny? but IMO, Jon Scott sounds fine), Jameson (nn Jamie?).
Anderson is still my favorite, though!
I like your boy choices.
Some others to consider. Miles. Sebastian. Oliver. Jeffrey. I think Scott is a great last name and goes with so much.
I want to point out that Sidney is the masculine spelling for the name. Your daughter should be Sydney. Otherwise I think Sydney Paige is a great choice.
I like Anderson Foster Scott, and Andy is a multi-syllable nick name.
FWIW, I taught a Joe Scott, and never thought it sounded off in any way. You could always make his nn Joey instead of Joe... or just call him Joseph.
I love Anderson, or even Andrew. If you don't like Andy, then Drew Scott still sounds fine.
Can you explain the 2 syllable nickname thing?
What nicknames would you be using for Collin and Noah?
Personally I much prefer Sidney than Sydney even though it's the masculine spelling. The double "y" thing just bugs me.
I don't really have a suggestion for your son's name, other than to avoid the name Michael
And ditto PP about the Carson Pierie Scott comment, that's a pretty big department store around here (Chicago) and even if you don't live around a CPS right now who knows where you might end up in the future. My brother's MN is Dominick and there's a grocery store here named Dominick's and trust me, he never heard the end of it from me when we were little!

I love the name Tyler Foster Scott (Ty for short-- Ty Scott) Cute!!!
Blake Foster Scott is my second choice! Good luck!!
We are naming our son Anderson, and he absolutely will not be called Andy.
I am not a fan of Colin, I like Blake better.
How about something more classic like James, Micheal, Daniel, Thomas?

Because Sidney is a unisex name, I would avoid Tyler and probably even Blake because they are also very often used for girls. Next to very feminine Emily, I would assume that Sidney and Tyler were both boys or, if I knew you had two daughters, I wouldn't know which one was the boy.
From your list, I would pick Noah or Collin. I agree with PP about the Sydney spelling, especially with sister Emily.

From your list, my faves are Colin and Noah.
Or how about Nathaniel, nn Nathan?
i love Colin Foster Scott
Colin Scott...sounds really good with the siblings!
i don't like anderson- sounds like he should be wearing a little ivy league sweater around his shoulders...
i vote noah!
Anderson Foster Scott is 3 last names, and seems just too "big" to me (and almost like it could be a brand of liquor or beer). Same goes for Carson.
Blake, Tyler or Noah would all be nice.
Sidney would also "go" with all 3 of those, but I like Sidney and Blake best.
