OMG What am I going to do

My PIS is not working properly.  The motor sounds like it is trying harder than it should.  I didn't drop it or anything.  I called medela and they are closed until MONDAY!  I can still use the pump, but I am afraid that I am going to make it worse by using it.

Anyone else have an issue?

Re: OMG What am I going to do

  • mine had problems, but then when I tried to use it the next day and it seemed like the problem had resolved itself

  • I don't have a PIS, but an Ameda PY.  My pump will sometimes sound like this and it's usually because it's losing suction...my tubes aren't on right or my membranes are old, or the cups aren't pressed against me tight enough.  I also make sure my pump is sitting on a level surface.

    Hope that helps!

  • Ahh! Scary!  Can you rent one from a hospital?
  • This happened to me one night around 2am. I didn't have the white membranes connected properly. Have you ever replaced them? I heard once a month is a good rule of thumb. I would use it until Monday, but check all the things PPs stated and check those membranes!  GL!!!
  • i agree with pp. ?check the white membranes. ?mine was making crazy noises one day and i realized that one of the membranes was installed incorrectly.

  • I fixed it....sorta. ?I made sure that the membranes were attached correctly and ? I got the suction back by taking the faceplate off and putting it back on about 10x's but the motor still sounds wonky. ?I am still going to call Medela Monday. ?
