Mine is that I hate superstitions. My dad won't fly next year because it's 2013. Should he stop driving too? Funny enough my parents' house number has a 13 in it. Ha!
Klang, that made me LOL. I can kind of see what you mean.
My UO: I don't like Starbucks coffee. If I go there I will get a chai latte, but I could live without it. I prefer getting a regular coffee from the little newstand in my building even though the Starbucks is right next to it. It seems like everyone I know is addicted to Starbucks.

I only like the pumpkin spice latte and gingerbread latte.
MY UO is i think sugar free or alternative birthday cakes are just silly. I know there is no point to giving LO sugar on normal days but seriously its their birthday let the kid eat some cake!

So totally agree. Seriously don't understand why you wouldn't give your kid cake. It's not poison. It's birthday cake. A special treat that happens once a year. Childhood.

There will be 100% sugar and fat cake at Carter's bday party! It's one day people, not going to hurt them.

I agree with this. We eat healthy every day (not perfect of course) but on birthday's I let them eat whatever (no soda or booze of course!). If all they have is cake and chips at a party, fine, it's one meal out of the day! I want to enjoy myself at the party too, not run around making sure they eat enough fruits and veggies!
I find it hilarious that mammabear felt the need to clarify that there would be no booze! lol
My UO: I think far too many people have kids when they can't afford them. It's one thing if ish happens and money you expected to be there, isn't. Or if you and your partner/spouse aren't together anymore so you're not a dual income. I get those situations. I'm talking about people who are already scraping by, barely making enough to sustain themselves, and then they get pregnant. On purpose. It's just bizarre to me. And then it angers me if they then ask for a handout. How about no? You gave up your right to handout when you got knocked up knowing you could not afford this child.

Guess, its not that UO but its been bugging me. We just went to a party where the birthday boy got some odd type of unfrosted zucchini cake; his mother wanted a medal for not giving him sweets! All i could think was gee he?s one a little frosting won?t kill him.

LOL I gotta draw the line somewhere! I'm also the type of person who will say something like "they can have whatever they want" and I'll get the ONE person who goes "oh, so if they are offering beer, can your kid have that too?" These are just the people I have to deal with on a daily basis
I also agree with your UO (which I don't think is very unpopular unless you are a person that feels they are entitled to reproduce even if they don't have the money to support themselves), and along the same lines I can't stand people who say "OMG, I don't know how I'm going to pay our bills, get handouts from their parents/friends/etc and then show up with a new car (can you tell that was directed at someone?!)

I guess it's an UO to not want to give sugary cake for LO's first birthday. I probably will make a lower-sugar carrot or zucchini-type cake. I have a bad sweet tooth and want to hold off giving M the full-on sweets for as long as I can. It may or may not help in the long run, and she may have the same addiction to sweets that I do. But, I'm trying to make healthier changes to all the food in our house. If she doesn't know she's getting "cheated" and likes the cake anyway, I don't see the harm. And I'll feel better about having a slice myself!
I also don't care for Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts coffee. At Starbucks I get calorie-laden iced lattes, and at Dunkin I only like the blueberry coffee b/c I can't really get it anywhere else.

Agreed, we went to a Baptism last weekend and I let DD have a few tiny bites of my piece of cake. She loved it and I don't think it's a big deal. It's not like she'll be eating cake everyday.
I don't like coffee. At all. I've tried and tried, but just do not like the stuff.
Say whaaaaaaaaa????? Some nights I go to bed excited for my fresh cup of coffee in the morning. I am having a love affair with my Keurig and I don't care who knows. Some afternoons when both children are acting particularly "toddlerlike", I just stand there and caress him. He gives me sweet love in the form of black delicious java.

Agreed. DH and I really want to start trying for #2. Right now I'm unemployed because I lost my job and am on unemployment (which I am so greatful for). If we have two and I get a new job teaching we can't afford two in daycare, so we're trying to decide if we can get by if I get a part time job in the evenings waitressing or something. I'd love to because it would mean I could raise my children and stay home with them during the day, but I'm not sure yet if that's going to work.
I don't use coupons. To me, It seems like a pretty big waste of time to save a couple of dollars. I think the people on those extreme coupon shows are insane. Instead of wasting time couponing, they should get a second job. I bet it would be more beneficial.
DH really thinks I should try to get coupons, find the best deals on everything, etc. But, I refuse to run around to 3 different stores and spend hours collecting coupons. I guess I just think that my time is more valuable than that.

I don't like coffee. At all. I've tried and tried, but just do not like the stuff.
This is why I've never mentioned that I've never had coffee before, it's VERY unpopular!! I think DH and I are the only couple in the world that doesn't drink coffee. We don't even own a coffee pot.

Neither my husband or I drink coffee. We own a coffee pot, but that is because the rest of our family drinks coffee and we have some for them when they come over.

Meh, I think whatever kind of cake you want to give your LO is fine. They don't know the difference, and I don't think it's robbing them of childhood or anything. Evelyn had a banana cake w/o added sugar with real cream cheese frosting w/butter and sugar. So a compromise, I guess.

Oh, I just thought of one thanks to ajc's CP. I hate hate hate it when people use the term "little mama" as a nickname for baby girls. The L&D nurse called LO that when she was born and it drove me nuts.
