Cleaning Mesh Feeders

I gave DD one of these mesh feeders this weekend with banana in it:

She absolutely loved it.  BUT ... I can't get the banana completely out of the mesh.  I scrubbled it right away, then soaked it in hot soapy water, I will now be throwing it in the dishwasher too.  Does anyone have any other tips.  I really like this product, but if its going to be this much of a pain to clean I'm not sure what I will do.

I've heard banana is probably the worst thing to clean out of there, so at least you know that you've already dealt with that!  I usually just put some dish soap on my hands and rub the mesh part between my hands really good and that has been working fine for everything that we've put in there so far.  The cantaloupe has stained the mesh some, but it's clean, so I'm over a little staining.

  • Why would you put a banana in a mesh feeder? Just mash it up, the baby can eat the whole thing!

Sometimes it's nice to give it to them frozen (or not) so they can hold it and feed themselves while you're getting dinner ready etc... i think that's when the mesh feeder comes in handy the most.

As for cleaning, i scrub it w/ the bottle brush but it's still hard to clean.

  • I never got the banana out of ours and had to throw it away.  Trying her with some watermelon tonight so we have to go buy a new one.  Bananas just don't work well in it imo; you need a juicier, less thick fruit.

  • Someone told me the only way they can get it clean is in the (clothes) washing machine.
