3rd Trimester

feeling large and ugly

I am 35 weeks and starting to feel large and uncomfortable and know that it might be a long month ahead of me.  I am pretty much done with work ( I was sub teaching, but school is over)  I have some at home work I do for another company, but just hanging out at home for the most part.  My hair is driving me crazy, it has only been 4 weeks since my last cut and my hair feels so thick and fluffy I just don't know what do with it!  I was planning on growing it out, but don't think I can.  Anyone have any recommendations on how not to feel gross these last few weeks?  I know I probably shouldn't cut my hair, but I want to so bad!!

Re: feeling large and ugly

  • i hear ya! i feel pretty round and jiggly these days :/  my suggestion is to style your hair, not cut it...just flat iron it. and treat yourself  to a pedi or massage, it will make you feel so much better! your almost there!!

  • Yep. I'm there too. Especially because my belly is huge and I have less and less that fits me (even my maternity clothes) but I refuse to buy more since I don't plan on getting pregnant again.

And I've been growing out my hair since last summer. I figured I'd cut it after the baby came and I had less time to take care of it but I'm seriously thinking about doing it now because every day I just put it up in a messy bun so there's no point in it being long anymore. I'm about ready to take scissors to it myself just to take a couple inches off (I've done this before...not much of a style but makes it easier to manage until I get in to have someone cut it into an actual style).

I'm actually getting ready to jump in the shower to get ready for PT now and I'm debating chopping some off after the shower......

I'm sorry that you feel so uncomfortable. I think we all hit that point around 35 weeks (or earlier). Yes, you have a long month ahead of you, but you can do it! Just take it one day at a time. Make sure you take lots of time to pamper yourself. Get tons of rest, go get your nails done, get a pregnancy massage... Just do anything to make yourself feel more comfortable and attractive. If you think a hair cut would make you feel better then I say go for it!

  • I'm there with you.  I've felt this way for a while, though.  And I've just given up.  The fact that I look like a fat frump has been accepted.  It will make my beautiful mommy make-over after Baby comes all the more exciting, I suppose.  I'm too apathetic and exhausted to care at this point.
  • This is me today, totally.  I think it has gotten worse since I found some stretch marks on my stomach. Crying  I feel huge, unattractive, etc etc...I'm totally down in the dumps!!

This. A nice shower, time on styling your hair, putting on a little make-up does go a long ways! You are almost there!

  • i feel the same way, i am 29 weeks today, have tons of tiger stripes on my boobs, none on my stomach, but the scars that were there from my previous surgery look gross. i dont fit into my clothes and have resorted to wearing my boyfreinds, i dont feel like me, its hard to feel pretty when people keep pionting out how big u are and how big u will get. i guess maybe im too sensitive, or too self concious. but i wish i felt like me sometimes.

  • I feel the same way! I did get my hair highlighted and it made me feel a little better. The worst thing about me is my legs have got huge and I have gained a ton of cellulite :( I wish I was one of the pregnant ladies that only got big in the belly :(. I plan on a pedi this weekend.
