2nd time moms - ? about what you wore in the hospital

When I packed my hospital bag the last time I brought clothes with me that I thought I would change into and I never did. For the 2 days I was in the hospital I wore the hospital gown and a black robe. I remember not really caring what I looked like because (tmi) but i was bleeding a lot and real uncomfortable and didnt want to get my own clothes stained.

Just curious did you get changed into normal clothes in the hospital?? I will be having visitors, but just family, so I wasnt trying to make a fashion statement, but as of right now I only have my robe and an outfit to head home in packed in the hospital bag

When I had my son I felt the need to get the heck out of those hospital gowns! I wore some yoga pants and a nursing tank. I took a shower as soon I was able to because I knew I would feel better...and I did!

Nope - I only wore pj's/nightgowns and my robe the entire time. I had packed some yoga pants and top for the drive home and those were the only regular clothes that I brought.

I remember I was a suprise induction w/ DD, so I had NOTHING packed.. and my DH had to go home and get it.. and yes he got some things..

but.. to answer your question.. I wore regular clothes.. I wanted nothing more than to feel halfway normal. I plan totally on having yoga pants and some of my t shirts.. I fully plan on bringing my make up, my shampoo and my own special lotion.. I really want to feel as good as possible and those things help..

I wore my black yoga pants and my long AE tanks.

Hubby brought me one of his tshirts too so I could sleep in it. I hated those gowns. I felt like somehow or another I got tangled up in them. I know now that for me yoga wear is the best way to go

I wont be having visitors, but I do want to be comfortable. Just getting up and washing my face and changing the first time made a huge difference in how I felt recovery wise. :O)

ditto - I wore sweats/t-shirt the entire time but really, showering and changing made me feel so much more human! I was bleeding pretty bad but I never got anything on any of my own clothes.

For visitors the first day I wore a nursing tank and a robe but nothing on bottom since I was still in the bed all of the time. For the second day I wore yoga pants and nursing tops. At first just sticking to the hospital gown is really the best though since there is a lot going on and the dr checks down there to see how things are going often.

Ha ha...i did the same thing with my first. I packed all sorts of crap I never used -- clothes, make-up, hair products. I was unable to walk after my delivery (I ended up needing crutches) so I didn't even shower until the following day and i had to do it on a chair. : Needless to say the clothes & make-up were pointless. I also don't allow a lot of visitors besides immediate family so the hospital gown and a robe will be all I pack this time around.

I only wore the hospital gown. It was just easier that way. I tore really badly, so they were constantly checking down there and it just would have been a pain to have to keep pulling my pants down. This time around, I am also planning to wear the hospital gown. As for visitors, I never really cared what they saw me in...if you visit me in the hospital, you better expect to see me in a hospital gown. :-)

I live in Ireland, and they don't have hospital gowns. Even for delivery--you have to bring your own nightshirt (which was obviously thrown away straight after)! Anyway, I wore maternity leggings, nursing bras and tanks with a hoodie or robe for most of my stay. I also wore a nursing nightgown for the nighttime b/c it was more comfortable.

I was in the hospital gown until it was time to go home. This time I packed some cotton dresses I have worn throughout the pregnancy that are super comfortable so we will see if they get used....

I didn't change out of the hospital gown until right before we went home. I did take a shower the 2nd day, but just put another gown back on. I had a catheter for more than 24 hours after birth so I couldn't get out of bed during that time. I was in severe pain (4th degree tear among other issues) and getting in & out of bed took 10-15 minutes each time, so I really didn't care about what I was wearing. I don't really plan to change out of the gown this time unless I just happen to feel amazing.

I might throw in an extra pair of pants just in case I want to change, but if I have as much bleeding as I did last time anything I wear will have to be tossed. I will take a nursing bra/tank, but I don't really plan to wear real clothes until we go home. I'm hoping my parents will be in town (they are coming in at 39 weeks), but other than that, we don't plan to have any visitors at the hospital since none of our family live within 800 miles of us.

I wore nursing nightgowns that had matching robes. That way I could cover up/stay warm on top if I needed to. They were comfy and functional. I plan on getting one or a couple new ones for this delivery/at home.

I obviously haven't made my bag yet. Still a bit of time, but I plan on wearing the same thing I come to the hospital in. (I am having a scheduled c-section). I lived in my hospital gown last time and plan on doing the same thing this time. If I really want something else to wear I will just have DH pick it up.

I had to wear the hospital for 36 hours before the actual birth, so I was ready to be out of it by the next morning. I wore my own sleeveless cotton/knit sundresses and the disposable undies from the hospital. On the last day/going home day, I wore some knit drawstring pants and a nursing tank, with a zip up hoodie over it.

I stayed in the hospital gown for the first day/night after I had my daughter (she was born at 8:36 am), but then I changed in to my regular clothes the next day. It was cold here so I wore a velour maternity set with a nursing tank. Not sure what I'll wear this time since the weather will be warm. I changed for my own comfort. I couldn't stand wearing those gowns. I never had any issues with leaking or staining with the hospital pads.

When I was getting my bag ready, I bought two really cheap XL nightgowns from a Walmart clearance rack. They were very old lady looking (long and floral) but the neckline had buttons so I'd still be able to nurse. I figured if they got ruined, no big deal. I was pretty sure I'd worn one of them for visitors at least but now I can't remember for the life of me if I actually did. I do remember on my last morning there, I went with the lactation consultant to her office to be fitted for a nursing bra and tank and having that tank on made me feel more human so this time I might try for real clothes once the docs/nurses are done checking things and I'm done icing up my soreness.

Gown for the night (vaginal birth at 6:36p) then yoga pants and a nursing top until I went home. Home was a comfy maternity shirt and clean yoga pants.

The first night I wore a nursing tank and a sweater with nothing but my mesh panties on the bottom. At some point (like 3 am) I put on my pajama pants because I was cold. I wore pjs for the first 2-3 months of his life. lol

with my son I was in for 6days so I'm glad I am an over packer lol... I plan to bring 1-2 pair yoga pants 2-3 shirts---1-2 gowns a robe and some house shoes... nothing fancy just comfy and fuctional...

Last time I wore and plan to wear again this time the hospital gown and a hospital robe with hospital socks and hospital issued mesh undies. I didn't put on my own clothes until the day I was going home.

I lost a ton of blood last time so was too out of it to wear anything but the hospital gown.

I'm hoping to feel better this time so I'll be packing tanks, a cradigan and comfy pants.

1st time I was in the gown most of my stay. I had a really rough delivery and pre-e so I was on mag sulfate for 24 hours following (and had to keep a catheter in too) and I had a really bad tear that they wanted to keep a close eye on. It was just easier to stay in the gown with all that. I think I ended up in loose pants & a nursing tank the last day though.

With my 2nd I just wore loose fitting pants (easy to pull down if they needed to check anything down there) and a nursing tank with a robe.

I have the same pants & nursing tanks packed this time along with a robe and a light wrap top (the robe got too hot at times but I still want something to cover up if need be)

I had a very long and exhausting labor, and I just lounged in the gown and mesh undies most of the time.

That being said, I was also the Mom who requested a chair for the shower because I was honestly THAT exhausted I wasn't sure if I could stand the whole time. The nurse made sure to let me know I was the only person in history to request a chair :

I was in the hospital for 3 days total. The first day I just stayed in the gown. The 2nd day I showered and changed into some lounging clothes. I just felt more like myself and more comfortable. I wore black pants that way if anything did leak out (gross, I know) it wouldn't be hard to hide.

I just wore a nursing bra or tank under the gown and then had a button-down large pj top on over that or a robe if I got cold. Then only time I got "dressed" was when my mom and DH "forced" (based on the nurses advice) for my to walk one lap around the maternity wing.
