So, I'm wondering what everyone thinks about having a "January baby"? I know we are all so fortunate and thrilled to be pregnant and "timing" pregnancies is a luxury that is not an option for many of us, but...I guess I never saw myself having a baby in January. Anyone else??
Re: Really...January??
DX: PCOS/Recurrent losses/MTHFR mutation (compound hetero)
5 hysteroscopies/2 surgical
3 Inject IUIs = 2 m/c's and 1 BFN
IVF #1= BFP. m/c at 7w6d. Needed 2 D&C's and scar tissue removal. Mild OHSS
IVF #2 = BFP. Severe OHSS. 4 Drainings. TWINS!
This exactly! I had DD#1 in August during one of the hottest summers on record and I don't know if I could survive it again. The only bonus is that I could wear sun dresses and flip flips for the last three months and I didn't have to cram my swollen Fred Flinstone feet into real shoes!!
*ETA: Sorry, I haven't figured out how to quote someone yet! I was replying to pthermal's post!*
I live in. Boston and this just popped into my head..what if I go into labor during a major storm!? It's a scary thought
I live in Southeat Texas, so no blizzard worries here. I'd much rather play around with the odds of a snow day (you would laugh if you saw what we consider a snow day) than a hurricane (which I dealt with when I was pg with DS). So hurricane season, another great reason to have a January baby!
I live just outside of Boston. My EDD is part of the reason I chose Winchester Hospital over Brigham and Womens. Im literally 2 minutes from WH.

i loved my May baby. It was perfect--never got too hot towards the end of pregnancy, and we enjoyed the summer. i'm afraid that with a dead-of-winter baby, we're going to be cooped in the house until it stops snowing because i'll be afraid to brave going out with 2u2.
but, as others have said, i'm thrilled to be pregnant and extremely grateful for this little nugget.
This is exactly what I was thinking!
To OP, I actually hadn't given too much thought to it. Nobody in either DH's or my family have a January birthday so we're hoping that this little penguin will be the first and complete the calendar year circuit!

I don't have any birthdays in the month of January on my side of the family but my hubby's sister has her son's birthday and second baby due a week before mine. So it'll turn into a busy month for us
I felt the same way about it Texas has unbelievably crazy hot summers but it shouldn't be too bad since I won't be too huge by then @ least I don't think.
I think I'm the only person who wouldn't mind be huge in the summer. I grew up in GA and still live in the south & *love* hot weather. All I can think of is how much cuter summer maternity clothes (and, IMO, all clothes) are than winter clothes.
Despite having hot summers where I live, we have had some snow... well ice. When it snows here (and it snowed like 10 times last year), it turns to a sheet of ice & the whole city shuts down bc we aren't equipped to handle it. My mom already joked that we'd probably have an ice storm in Jan. Thanks mom.

It certainly wasn't my original "plan" to have a winter baby. DS was born in August, and we decided that because DH is a teacher it would be better to aim for Spring time next time, so we did. We successfully conceived our first cycle trying, which would have given us a May 2012 baby.
But, that ended in miscarriage at 11.5 weeks. So from there, it was a matter of whatever time it came, then that's what was meant to be.
And here I am.

Been there done that! Maternity clothes are a lot cuter BUT OMG I was so hot and swollen last time! I'm sad about buying all new mat. clothes but hoping I'm not as miserable this time.
I was August 2010 too~ what a coincidence!
After all I've been through, this baby can claw out of my belly butten alien style in a january blizzard, in the backseat of a car in a snow drift, for all I care.
But January has perks! We will likely miss the holidays with a newborn, never be giant in the summer and no one will notice you aren't back to size right away when you can still wear warm clothing.

"Darling don't be afraid. I have loved you a thousand years. I love you a thousand more."
I am thrilled to be having a baby at any time. However every time there are pros and cons
So pros for Jan: Not any January b-days in my immediate family, I won't have to be huge in the summer and hopefully bad 1st tri symptoms should be gone by July 4th making an overall enjoyable summer.
Cons: I live right along Lake MI and we can have brutal winters, to make it worse I don't like the hospital in our town so I am delivering just North of us (only 20 mins in good weather/traffic but can easily be 60+ in Jan). Depending on when baby chooses to arrive, his/her birthday could be very close to Christmas.
