Ive been wondering this for awhile now, and as I get closer and bigger and further along in my pregnancy, I wanted to ask other pregnant women what they are doing---- So, my question is, : How are you ladies taking care of hair down there?! Ive been thinking of getting waxed, tried to bikini wax myself, and have considered just letting it be,...seeing as how I probably wont be able to reach or bend to shave or whatever in a few more weeks!!
Any suggestions, or opinions??
Re: What are women doing 'down there?!?'
Full Brazilian wax. Keeps everything clean and all I have to do is show up to my appointment every 5-6 weeks. Simple.
But make sure you take two Tylenol before hand to reduce the pain/swelling.
I can barely handle waxing as is. With the extra blood flow & increased sensitivity I will not wax.
I've always shaved and had no issue reaching around last time & don't expect to have an issue this time. It's not perfect because obviousy I'm going by feel but it's good enough.
If I'm feeling ambitious I'll break out the electric razor. I'm not planning on swimming this summer, I'm on pelvic rest and I don't really care what it looks like for my Doctors.
I'm already measuring 5 weeks ahead so I figure why start something now that I probably won't be able to maintain for much longer - lol.
I, of course, am keeping everything smooth with the legs and underarms.

.... and now i am feeling self-concious and I am gonna go shave!
Same here. I was kind of surprised that almost all the women (who have answered anyway) shave or wax! I mean, I don't want to look like a prepubescent little girl. I will however trim it when it gets too long and a little bit in the way and when it gets pulled, but that's different than shaving it all off.

I also get a full brazilian wax, but every 3 weeks. I don't go as much in the winter, but every three weeks in the spring/summer for bathing suit reasons, of course. I avoid the ever-popular shaving bumps in the bikini line this way and get a deal with my salon. I used to have a couple cocktails and anti-inflamatories beforehand, so I didn't feel a thing, but stopped shortly before finding out I was expecting trying to get used to it without any "enhancers". Now, I take nothing and am perfectly fine. I will keep going throughout my pregnancy. It makes we feel better to know that's taken care of since shaving my legs looks like it's going to become more difficult in the coming weeks!
Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow...I'm sorry, I just felt sympathy pains for you.
it's all exposed... but my waxer covers what she's not working on with a towel. It was awkward the first couple times, but the lady who does mine, goes out of her way to make it more comfortable... it's not so bad.
Shaving with an electric trimmer to get it as short as possible.. not completely bare because I don't trust myself with razor blades in areas that I can't see.
That being said, I had my last adventure in trimming last week, which left me knicked in not so appetizing areas and bleeding, and I'm quite sure amusingly splotchy... I don't think I"ll be trying it again until after our LO is here!
From the many other posts on this topic that I've read over the last 8 or so months, the general consensus is that waxing hurts like a b!tch because you're generally swollen down there (though many people still do it), but it's worth it to keep yourself short to prevent all the discharge that you'll have after giving birth from getting stuck in the hair - some people enlist the help of DH, others use a mirror, and others blind shave while using touch to guide...
I know I crossed my legs for you
Wax. It was nice after birth as well.

I have a hard time waxing, I may not go for a full brazilian, but perhaps a "playkini mid way between brazilian and bikini.
If not, SO is ready to roll when it's time, "down there" and my legs. I am a little concerned at how excited he is.

Last time I just "maintained" the bikini edges by shaving until I couldn't reach which was only the last few weeks. I'll be better about it this time since I'll be pregnant through the summer and in a swimsuit (it was fall-winter last time so there was no need for any major maintenance.
I've never waxed down there. I'll probably do it some day but it's not a big thing here in my small town and I don't even know where I would go to get one!
I just trim with a small pair of scissors and then shave my bikini area, but that's becoming difficult. I'll probably have DH help me. He was great when I needed to shave my legs and was in a full leg brace.
This is hilarious!
Before I was pregnant, I used to think that my eyebrows hurt worse... I do have very sensitive skin on my face tho. Now, I'd say they're about even.
Love it!

I use an electric trimmer on a regular basis. But, for vacations and special occasions I've gotten a brazillian. I also typically get my underarms waxed anytime we have to go to a wedding or go on vacation.
We went on vacation 2 weeks ago and I made an appt for an underarm & bikini wax. Thankfully, she did the underarms first. Normally, it barely hurts at all and only takes a minute (literally). But, this time it was AWFUL. I was bruised afterward and she couldn't get all the hair (had a bunch of strays). She said that most pregnant women's skin changes during pregnancy, but she's never seen bruising. I've never had a reaction before and I'm taking instant purple across my entire armpit. And it hurt like a BIATCH. We both decided a bikini wax was NOT going to happen. My bruises weren't as noticeable after 3 days and the pain went away after 2. But, it was so not worth it.
So, if you are thinking of waxing for the first time during your pregnancy, I would just be cautious.
