Re: Milestone Monday!?!

  • Ok. Now I definitely feel like Levi is behind...he just started waving about a week ago, doesn't clap, has no interest in walking, doesn't say anything on purpose. :( should I be worried?!?! Because I am!

What other things DOES he do? I bet there are things he is doing that others aren't.

  • Avery started walking on Mother's Day... Now she never crawls anymore. :(

    Where did a year go?

  • Makenzie started crawling last week and started walking with a walker toy yesterday. I haven't posted on here much but we are doing physical theraphy for the next few months due to the fact that at her 9 mo check up she wasn't sitting unassisted.  So needless to say I am excited that she is crawling/"walking" Big Smile

  • Mila can now say "dog" and "shoe." I'm really excited about her saying "shoe!" =) She's also trying really really hard with her spoon and fork when we eat. She's been walking (regularly, not just spurts) for almost a month now. =)

  • dd2 has taken a few steps but doesn't realize it, so she doesn't actively try to walk.  it's just when she's angry and trying to get to one of us quickly.

C finally started saying "mama" this week. :)  He's been saying "dada" for what feels like forever.

In all honestly, I must say I feel like my baby is behind with all the words other babies are saying!

The thing that strikes me abt this thread is how different all these kids are.  I love it.  Sam has been walking (not just steps, not just intermittently, walking full-time) since before 10mon, but doesn't say a single word with meaning.  I can't believe some babies are talking!  That's amazing.

Sam pulled a diaper box over to the stove today, crawled up and stood up on it, and started playing with the knobs.  Oh boy.  He can also open doors (we have lever type door knobs) and get wherever he wants.  He plays Peekaboo and generally dazzles his fans with his lack of common sense/no fear/utterly reckless behavior.  Stick out tongue

You just described Ash starting with walking and going all the way through reckless behavior!

ETA: and I just noticed they are the EXACT same age! Doppelgangers?

  • Nikolai has picked up a bunch of new cute things.  He waves at anyone and everyone.  He learned to clap.  He takes a few steps with some coaxing a couple times a day.  He's been imitating us a TON - we'll say "yumyumyum" at dinner and he'll repeat it, he has this cute laugh that sounds like a pigeon and if we do it, he'll do it back to us, if we clap, he'll clap, if we pat something and say "patpatpat" he'll pat something too.  He's been snuggling on the pillow I keep in the living room to prop my arm on when I nurse him - he lays his head on it, sticks his but in the air and puts his arms under him just like he sleeps.

N doesn't say anything at all with purpose.  Just babbling.  Don't feel bad!  It's really early to be talking.

DD has figured out her shape sorter and can usually get all the pieces in the correct spaces herself.

For serious??  I don't think N even realizes the blocks are supposed to be put in the shape sorter holes.  All he does with his is lug it up the stairs.  Although he can make it up there with almost all the blocks still in it (lid off)

I took DD to the Dr last Wed and when we were done I asked her to say "All Done" my Dr was shocked and said she is "very advanced" for saying it.  Don't worry!  He is soaking it all in and will have a word explosion one week :)

Yep- she loves puzzles.  We started off showing her where each piece went when she picked one up.  But now she'll try each space until she finds the one it fits in (though if she can't find it in under about 30 secs, she loses interest and goes to the next piece).  But I'm impressed that N can carry it up the stairs!  She's not quite that talented yet at carrying things with her while moving.

  • Rhett has started walking this past week...up to 15 steps.  He is also saying mama, but I don't think it is with purpose yet.  DH thinks it is.

You're right :). He's a super busy boy mobility wise. He must be focusing on that.

I actually remembered a couple things- he started climbing into his chair yesterday and he can play ball. He picks up a ball and will bring it to someone and set it in their lap. Then if you roll it to him, he'll roll or throw it back over and over :). He loves, loves balls right now!

  • I'm going to be an embarrassing gigantic bragasaurus since I do not have any friends with babies and only have you ladies who will be excited for me! Stick out tongueEmbarrassed

Em has been able to walk since 8ish months old, but now she can run! I am so very proud, but also terrified b/c she gets away so quickly!!

She learned how to push her electronic toys on and off, can point to her nose if asked, can point/touch other people's noses if asked, calls the dog "De-da" (her name is deedles), points, claps on cue, and just started giving high fives. We are trying to teach her to roll a ball (she just throws it now) and blow kisses.

  • Olivia has been mouthing the word "hi"  for a few days now if I ask her to say it. Today at the supermarket she started saying it out loud! Then she proceed to say it to everyone that passed us!

  • I love this new topic because I can actually participate.  While I love HDBD and the other picture postes, I still can't figure out how to post pics so I can never participate.Sad

Garrett can say woof!  We thought it was just a random thing he was doing but the other day I had the windows open and a dog across the street started barking and G looked right at me and said woof.  Now he says it anytime he is looking for or playing with our dog!

  • Now that he's done it several times I realize it's not accidental: James will gently pat me while saying "Ma ma ma." Melts me.

  • These are all so great!  LO's recent milestones are being able to climb up the winding staircase unassisted (but spotted!), being able to climb down a few stairs unassisted (she stays in the same position she was in crawling up, and then lowers herself down - very impressive!), mastering the shape sorter (she has been able to get the shapes in the holes for a long time, but last night was the first time I saw her actually selecting the correct holes herself instead of just putting them in when we directed her to the right holes), and learning a few more words (now she has mama, papa/dada, hi, bear, and dog).  She has also been working on her non-verbal communication, especially with pointing and looking intently at things so I know exactly what she wants.  (Like this morning, I was eating a donut and she saw me, dropped the toy she was playing with, came over to the couch where I was, pointed and smiled, and followed the donut's every movement.  I got her some cheerios!)  She also waves and claps a lot.

She's gotten really good at cruising all around the furniture and transferring from one piece of furniture to the next, and walking with support under her arms or holding her hands, though she hasn't tried walking unassisted yet.
