While we were ironing out the details of our respite care placement this weekend, the social workers asks us about our first placement.
I'm super excited that we got "the call"!!!
Although it was completely not what we were expecting. Our preference is 0-4 years old. This placement is for a 17 year old and her 4 month old baby.
We are still thinking about it. Thankfully they don't need placement until Monday, so we have some time to ponder it!
Here's the latest update:
Thanks for all of the support about making this decision.
We decided to decline the placement.
While there were some aspects of this placement that pulled at our heart, at the end of the day we weren't comfortable parenting a 17 year-old at this point. I could definitely see us with a teenage mother and child in our 3rd or 4th placement. But right now it just isn't right for us.
If you are interested, I go into some more detail about our decision my blog.

We are really at peace with our decision, which is something I wasn't sure would be possible if we decided to decline.
BTW- I am loving reading your blog! It is nice to "know" someone who is further along in their journey to see how things can work out!
