swim diapers

What are you moms using for swim diapers. I was thinking of using lil swimmers but saw something at target last week that was made by speedo a reusable diaper? Im a little confussed. Is that the diaper or do I still need to put a regular diaper on under it?

Re: swim diapers

  • This weekend was the first time DS went into the water, I used Pampers splashers and they were easy and worked well.

We use the Lil' Swimmers, and they've worked great. The reusable diaper you saw at Target would be the swim diaper (the point of a swim diaper is really only to hold in poop). There is a "sale" on the Lil' Swimmers on Amazon right now. :)

Swim diapers are made to contain bowel movements.  I have 2 of these and they work great.  They have been tested with diarrhea and worked, thank goodness!!

Right. That goes for all swim diapers, reusable or not.

    Exactly.

If they absorbed the pee, they'd also absorb the pool/lake/etc water.

The days before "swim diapers" was hilarious at the local pool (so many babies... so many diaper innards). If you ever want to see a diaper explode, stick it in water. Awesomeness.

  • we use reusable

  • I bought the Pampers ones, but I didn't know about these reusable ones. Those sound way better! I wish I had known about them before I bought the pack of Pampers, although they weren't that expensive. But still...

  • The iPlay swim diaper is great (on Amazon). It is reusable really nice. You will save a ton of money. I don't cloth diaper at all but for a swim diaper it's GREAT!

  • Reusable are great, but just a PITA too pull off versus disposable.  You can tear the disposables at the hip when they are done.  I prefer reusable because it can get expensive and it is better for the environment.

  • I had a speedo one for DS this winter during swim lessons. I liked it and if I could find one, would buy another. That said, he hasn't had any BM's. not sure how removing it would be if he did! I just bought two Bummis Swimmis, they have velcro, so if he does have a BM, I don't have to pull the diaper off like undies.

We have a Bummis Swim diaper. They have velcro sides like a regular diaper so not a PITA to take off :)  We really like it so far but have not had any poos to determine it actually works.  But it had good reviews.  They are about the same price as a package of disposables, which only have 12 in them.  If you plan on a lot of swimming I would get a reusable!

  • Ohhh.  So if they're only for poop, that means I'm not supposed to put a regular diaper under the reusable swim diaper I just bought?  I'm just supposed to put it on as a regular diaper so that she doesn't poop in the pool?
