Can I pull off this non-maternity swimsuit?

I'm having trouble finding a maternity swimsuit I like, and I refuse to spend a lot of money on something I'll wear for only one summer. So, what do you all think of this?

It's not maternity, but with all the rouching, I think I might be able to pull it off. What do you think? Any other suggestions for cheap, cute swimsuits?

  • My SIL bought this suit last summer and it's super cute on!  She's shaped like she's around 6 mo pregnant all the time and has a really long torso and it works well on her.

I'd say you'd probably be ok, at least for the early part of the summer.

  • For me, I wouldn't do that one, but that's because my boobs would be hanging otu all over the place. I don't like halters on me with pregnancy boobs. I also wonder if I'd really like the skirt aspect poking out around my hips/under my belly.

I do think you can get non-maternity, but that one in particular wouldn't do it for me. Did you look at the Target maternity suits? They're no pricier than that one.

I have this in a Large that I am hoping to wear most of my pregnancy, though:

Ohhh, that's cute! I think it's going to depend on your body type.  I would get it in a size or two bigger and it just might work.
  • I ordered two maternity bathing suits from Old Navy that I am expecting to arrive today.  I did not want to go with maternity, but I seem to be growing so quickly that I did not want to take my chances on a non-maternity bathing suit.  We'll be going to the beach in mid-July, and I plan on living by the pool this summer, so I will get a lot of wear out of it.  Honestly, if you plan on using the bathing suit a lot this summer, I'd check into a maternity one.  Mine were not expensive, and I ordered two of them.  I think you could find a good deal, especially with the 20% off deals ON has all of the time.

  • I tried on some Non Maternity suits and had to go up sizes to accomadate my belly and then the butt and boobs were WAY to big.  I ended up getting a Maternity Tankini Top and my regular bottoms.
  • I have such a long torso to begin with that a one piece just wouldn't work. I bought a women's sized top at Kohls yesterday that is long and had the ruching for me to grow with. I also ordered a maternity top from ON. My biggest issue is my bra size. If these things keep getting bigger, no normal suit is going to keep me contained.

  • I have that swim suit and i liked it pre pregnancy. But im a c cup before getting pregnant and now im in a d cup i wouldn't feel comfortable in it now cause of boobs. It is form fitting to so the skirt doesnt really stick out it shapes to your body. Very cute and if you did get id go up a size or 2. I bought one of the maternity one from target i think it was 39.99 and i love it so comfortable and cute.

I did this.  I have a pair of black bottoms that have pretty full coverage, and I got a top from Old Navy for about $20 that has black in it.

  • Cute suit! I had a non-maternity one piece when I was preg with my first, and the only thing I'd wished I'd considered was that as my belly grew out... the way the fabric pulled made the suit come down in the boob area, and up in the lady-parts area. So just make sure you order the size with room for that bump to grow!
  • I tried this one on and it was just too tight in the tummy area. Instead I bought a maternity swim top from Target and paired it with non maternity black bottoms that I already had!

  • I think it depends on how big your belly is. I am pretty huge so there is no way I'd try for a regular one. Granted, I hope to be swimming a lot throughout the summer.

I bought one from Motherhood that is a dress style when I was pregnant with DS, and hardly used it with him. I'm getting much more use out of it this time around.

  • That is cute but I would be afraid it wouldn't cover the belly by the end of summer. I bought this one from Motherhood Maternity and it is really cute with lots of room to grow. Looks like it is on sale right now for $27
