Tell me about Amazon

I use the website here and there, have been using it more lately. I am thinking about amazon mom or amazon prime. Tell me what you use amazon for. If you are a member of either of those, is it worth it?

Re: Tell me about Amazon

  • Start with Amazon mom... you can end up with 12 free months of prime!  For every so much you spend in the baby section you get a free month of prime services.  Then after your year is up if you chose to switch to prime you can (while still getting the Amazon mom benefits of 15% of items, etc.)

We've been Prime members for years and we use it all.the.time!  Before Ty was born we would use it for more personal things (video games, DVDs, DHs vitamins, and things we didn't feel like running to the store for!)

Now with Ty here I get my diapers and wipes through Amazon.  And other baby things as necessary that I can't find instore at Target/BRU, etc.  Still totally worth it, IMO!

I think the real question is what don't I use it for.  I use S&S for grocery items, cleaning items, filters (air and water) and diapers.

It's tax free and I get free shipping to my door.  I save about 40% on air filters and quite a bit on Pampers.

DId you sign up for Mom before they started charging? I can get 3 free months, but then it's $79.

  • Amazon is my BFF. I use it for everything!! I signed up for Amazon Mom and between that and the Subscribe & Save feature, I get diapers, wipes, and diaper Genie refills for a really great price.

When my Amazon Mom expired, I signed up for Amazon Prime. The free 2-day shipping is awesome and you can stream movies/TV.

But mostly, I just buy everything from Amazon. They have clothes, jewelry, household stuff, baby stuff, etc.

When I first signed up for Mom, I got 3 free months and was able to earn more free months by making baby-related purchases. I ended up earning 9 more free months (so the maximum 1 year) by buying baby stuff. Not sure if that's still how it works.

  • I think they changed it so you can only get the amazon mom free for 3 months. Very sad. But definitely give it a try, you might be hooked. Mine just ran out and I'm thinking about getting prime.

  • I have Amazon Mom and the Prime membership free right now for a whole year. It's been great! I use the subscribe and save feature for diapers, wipes, and Diaper Genie refills. I order a TON of other things through there. Most recently I bought DD's bike seat and helmet on there. I love the free 2 day shipping. When my free membership runs out, I will absolutely be paying the yearly membership fee. It saves me from so many trips to the store.

This is how it worked for me as well.  And I easily got it up to the full 12-months free just in diapers!

  • Amazon mom does not let you accumulate up to 12 months anymore. It's only three months now. My free 12 months expired and I did not want to pay the $79 because I feel like a lot of the stuff I got from there was mainly for convenience and it was things that I could easily go buy at the store or let accumulate to do bigger orders and get free shipping. as long as you spend $25 shipping is free anyways. It's just not two day shipping but heck for free shipping I can wait a few days. I absolutely love Amazon and order from there probably 2 to 3 times a week! Every single one of Finley's birthday gifts came from there and probably 60% of her baby gear.
