Weight loss question

So I tried to put on a pair of my regular jeans yesterday. I can't pull them over my hips....I tried several pairs of pants/shorts. My hips are not fat. They still are tight and skinny like before, just wider now. So none of my pants/shorts will pull over them except my maternity pants and comfy elastic waist pants. That's ok because I still have some belly weight to lose anyways so I'm still wearing my mat pants because of that and my c/s incision is till sore and my pants/shorts are all low rise.

My question is.....did your hips ever go back to prepregnancy? Or were they just always wide?

Just trying to plan what I need to buy, if it's just a few things to get by or if I really need to plan a new wardrobe for my lower half now.

Re: Weight loss question

  • I'm a little below my pre-preg weight start and all of my pants fit.

  • I'm in the same boat as you. My hips are huge. I have lost 27 of 40 lbs, but my hips which are not fat are not getting smaller.

  • The relaxin hormone that helps everything loosen and spread during pregnancy and delivery is still in your system for 8 weeks after delivery.  Your hips could end up being a little bigger than pre-baby but give it some more time before you get too worried.  All my pre-preg pants fit around 5 months last time and that's without any dieting or exercise.

ETA: At 4 weeks your uterus still hasn't completely shrunk back down yet either.

  • You're only a month PP. Give it some time.  I lost all my baby weight by 8 weeks after DD and was back in my pants around that time.

  • I didn't fit mine last pregnancy until 3-4 months out.  I had already been back to pre-preg weight, but it took awhile for all my ligaments and joints to tighten back into place

  • I was wondering about this too.  I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight (have been since 5 weeks PP), but I still can't zip or button my pants at 2 months PP and my maternity pants are too big.  Good thing I have my BeBand.  My hips were wide to begin with...I wish they'd go back faster.

  • This post makes me feel so much better! Nothing fits me.  I have resorted to dieting and working out 4 days a week :-) I've heard that it takes at least six months and people keep reminding me that it took 9 months to get to where we were...give it time.  UGH!!! I am not very patient though.
