We just bought J a new car seat after discovering he exceeded the height restrictions last month for his infant carrier ![]()
Now that we have a convertible car seat, should we still put him in the middle or put him on one of the sides now? We have an SUV if that makes a difference. And the middle seat is slightly shorter than the seats on the edge.
If he should be on the side now, driver or passenger?

Re: Quick Car Seat Question
It depends on if the middle is safe in your vehicle. If it's raised, then probably not a good idea, but I'm not sure about it being shorter. I would think that might also be problematic. Check your car manual to be sure.
We generally keep P in the middle, but sometimes I move her seat to the side if we're putting in another carseat.
We ran into a slight pickle and couldn't fit it behind a seat RF. Our options were either to turn him around or try to figure out how to fit him in the middle with the seat being shorter. I finally got it to fit in the middle (DH had to do something or another to it) and now we are back to RF in the middle
I fell in love with an Eddie Bauer car seat at target but they were out of stock so we went to sears to see if they had it. They didn't but they did have a sweet car seat that was 189 and $10 off. DH looked it up on his phone and saw it was on sale for 134 online. The lady wasn't going to give it to us for that price so he talked to the manager and she matched the price
It is really up to you.
The reason for the middle seat is safer is that most crashes are front or rear enders. The crashes that happen on the sides are more dangerous. That being said my guys have always been positioned one behind the driver and the other behind the passenger.
