Funny (errrr something) story...

So took DD into her 18 mo. well baby checkup yesterday. We walked in, Dad and baby went right into the well baby room (where no sick kids can go) I checked her in where the only person standing there was the receptionist, then I joined them in the well baby room. We waited in their for a little while then the nurse comes to get us and hands DD a book and says "Are you going to be a big sister?!" I was dumbfounded and speechless for a second then was like "yesssss? but I haven't told anyone yet?" It was weird. so then we walked to the room room and the she tells the other nurse I haven't told anyone yet that I was expecting. It was really awkward and you could tell they were previously talking about me. The other nurse goes "oh yeah, she was saying because your face looked different." Umm well they had NOT seen me prior to this moment so I have no idea what prior conversation they were referring to so you could see she pulled that out of her rear.

I look fat, NOT pregnant so it would have been weird for her to just assume. I think they are snooping because my OB office is at the same hospital as the pediatrician's so I suppose they have access to all appointments but still just seems a little weird.  :/

    That's brutal. If they did find out that's definitely a violation of doctor/patient confidentiality!

    That's a major violation if they are cross referencing appointments.  I would be calling and investigating.

    It's just soooo weird. My husband even thought thats what happened. I think when I go in for my first appt. I will say something to my nurse and doc about what happened and see what they think. My doctor is a really good one and I feel he is always looking out for me.

    That is some serious overstepping, between the cross checking appts, AND commenting to you about your current pregnancy.  I would be furious that they were intruding.  That your news to share when you so chose, not when they decide they want to gossip.  If I were you I would be contacting the practice manager and informing them of the situation.  Not to be a b!itch, but to inform them that you feel your rights were violated by a member of their staff.  Sorry but I don't buy that "your face looks different" told them you were expecting.  If that is the case that lady should get on 1st tri on the bump and help some girls out!!!

    This is a weird story, I would be freaked out. I would definitely look into it if I were you.
