how long with no poop?

DD has not pooped in 24 hours. Before that she had multiple (small) poops each day.  She has been sleeping very well and very happy.  When should I begin to worry?  She is formula fed.

    my son is formula/breast fed and just had the same issue and the doctor told me he should be going once a day at least. She told me if you gently stick a q-tip with vasaline in his butt it will help him go, it worked great for my son when I did it he pooped almost immediately. I would talk to your doctor and see what they say.

    DS is BFd (with occasional bottles of formula) and now goes very other day, occassionally every 3rd day. The pedi said it was completely normal and not a worry. The only concern would be if the poop is hard/"adult" like (which is how you can tell if they are constipated - length of time to poop does NOT indicate constipation in an infant) or if it is causing obvious distress.

    I would call the doctor.  With my doctor, for a 1 week old baby, she should be pooping every day until 3 weeks.  Is she having enough wet diapers?  Is she gaining weight?  DS didn't poop when he was that young and it was because he wasn't getting enough food.  Once we upped his intake, he started pooping every day again. If she was over a month, I wouldn't be concerned, but at that young, I would call just to see what they said.

    We had to take LO to the ER for a different issue the other night (all turned out fine),but while there I asked the dr about her decreased pooping frequency.  The dr said that around 1 month all babies settle into a schedule.  The longest documented time for a. Ewborn to not poop is 28 days.  That being said, I am a firm believer in calling the doctor if you are concerned.
