I'm usually a super laid back, non-judgy type of person -- but this video actually makes me mad!
If they were in their own driveway or backyard patio, fine, no big deal. If they are willing to risk their infant baby cracking his skull on pavement because he doesn't have on a helmet, that's on them.
But in the middle of a residential street? Are you f'ing kidding me? What if a car turned down the street and cut the corner too close? They would never see the baby on that skate board. Or if the dad tripped and fell -- the baby would be riding off alone into the intersection.
Completely careless.
And for the record, I think it's super trashy to take your baby out of the house in nothing but a diaper-- put some clothes on the kid so there's a little barrier to help with the roadrash!

All of this! I think the chance of him falling are even greater since he's barefoot too.
I'm also wondering how you are able to post that video from facebook here? I don't think you could do that with one of my videos....at least I hope not. Is your friend's wall not private?

I am generally pretty laid back about most things, but that video is not "cute" at all. So many things could've gone wrong. If they wanted to push him on the skateboard, at least have someone holding on to the skateboard with their hands or something. Yes, it would be hard on your back, but at least you can control the speed, and catch the baby if he was about to fall on the asphalt.

I don't even like DS walking on the pavement because I'm afraid he's going to face plant. I'm a very laid back, go with the flow kind of person. But not when it comes to my kids safety.
My very first immediate reaction is what if that baby decides in a split second that she's done on the skateboard and tries to get off? There's no way my kid would stay on there. My second reaction is yes, a baby on a skateboard is cute. But it's not gonna be cute when she leans forward, flips the skateboard and she slams her chin into the road!
The things people post on their facebooks involving their children are weeirrdddd.
The only thing cute about the video is the LO! However, I'm a very laid back person, but if DH ever tried this with Ty there is no way I'd let him, let alone video it! This is just totally irresponsible parenting. there are too many things that can go wrong.
I'm the minority here, and I'm pretty uptight. I personally would not do it, with that said I also don't see it as irresponsible parenting. Do I think it is risky, yes I do. But I remember a time when lots of mom's on here were talking about their babies falling off of beds, changing tables, cribs, and couches. Were those accidents yes, but something went wrong that you weren't doing where your child could have ultimately been pretty hurt, but I don't think it is irresponsible parenting. I'm sure there are parents out there who have crawlers, and have yet to fully child proof their house and that is dangerous, not irresponsible though, just lack of thinking.
I'm not saying it's okay, but I also on a scale of 1-10, see it as more of a 5. The dad was right there, his LO could get hurt anywhere really, there are lots of things that a lot of us may do that put our kids at risk, just general stuff. I guess I'm just saying I don't think it's so okay I would run out and do it myself, but I also don't think it's so horrible that it makes him a bad parent.

This was my response too. I'm pretty laid back, so I could see putting a baby on a skateboard. Someone would have to be inches away, though, so there was no chance of her cracking her head on the pavement.
