Some of you were with me on the traumatic day I learned Betsey Johnson is going out of business. Almost put me in labor, I was so distressed.
After much hemming and hawing, a surprise trip to her store by dh on Mother's Day and polling my co-workers, I have finally placed an order. I went ahead and got a swimsuit. I know many of you were rooting for the dress, but I can't wear one of her dresses to work. And dh sweetened the pot today-if I can get below pre-pregnancy weight after the kid comes (about 10 pounds less, as I wasn't in the best shape when we got pregnant), then he'll take me on a beach vacation somewhere, probably Hawaii. Sooo, the swimsuit sounded like the best idea.
I just clicked the 'order' button, almost threw up at how much the suit was even on sale, and am figuring out how to hang it next to the fridge and post the picture on all my grocery lists. And my wallet, which I'll pull out every time I go to buy a Starbucks or Chocodile. Can't wait for the Sparkpeople group to get going, but I know we have a few months until the kiddos arrive/we get the go ahead to get serious about this.
Anyhow, here's the suit. I already have several in bright, fun colors-my favorite being a hot pink polka dot bikini, so I thought I'd go a little darker and more lingerie style this time.
Any of you working on your post-baby weight loss motivation strategies? I'm hoping to hit this goal by Nov/Dec. I want back in to my pre-pregnancy clothes by Sept for my trip home, but I have no illusions about tone or endurance until well in to the fall/early winter.
Re: Ok, ladies. I did it.
My sister and I have decided to run the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon in 2014 to motivate us to get into shape after the baby comes. I have a picture of the marathon hanging on my fridge for motivation.
By the way I love that swimsuit, good choice!
It took 9 months for my body to get this way. I am allowing myself about the same time to return to normal.
I don't want to stress out about it.
Yay! I'm glad you ordered something before she goes out of business. The suit is really cute & the beach vacation sounds awesome.
My motivation is that I had lost 35lbs just before getting pg using the my fitness pal app. I'm hoping that I can lose weight the same way again.
Adorable suit! What great motivation!
I have to go on a beach vacation with my MIL 8 weeks after the baby so I will be running my ass off until then. I am going back to work in September so I would also like to be back in my pre preg clothes by then if possible. But considering I just ate an entire plate full of enchiladas and a box of Reese's pieces I might need something a little more inspirational
You are going to love the Princess race!! I was signed up to do it this year-we did the Goofy challenge and the Tinkerbell half in January-but I hit my wall for the Princess. I did the 5k the night before but just couldn't do the half. Have a wonderful time-there is nothing like a Disney race!!
I'm in dejection mode. Dh got the credit card notification and flipped-apparently he didn't realize it was as expensive as it was, even though he was totally on board all morning. So he wanted me to call and cancel the order-I told him I really didn't think they would do that. Then I got home and got my order confirmation e-mail, and they had cancelled the bottom because it's out of stock and are just sending the top. Um, hello?? It's a SWIMSUIT! How am I suppose to wear it with just the top?? So I just called their customer support and she said she would try to cancel the order but couldn't guarantee it, which means I may have an $88 bathing suit top that I can't return, without the bottom, along with a grumpy husband.

Nice suit. I'm glad you got something before she went out of business. I got sad when I read your first post about it.
As for my "motivation" after she is here...I figure I'll need to be in shape to keep up with her when she starts toddling...so that's pretty much where I'm coming from on that front.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! It was such a cute suit. I know it won't be the same, but could you get just a plain black swimsuit bottom? Just in case that you end up with it, I don't think it would be completely noticeable that they didn't go together. And I'm sorry about the part about your husband too. Mine doesn't know what anything costs either (unless it's computer equipment) and is sometimes completely blown away by prices.
This. The weight came off really easily last time, so I'm not too worried about that. Tone took me over a year and I still had some extra skin in the middle to deal with.
OMG, Love it! I hope they can get you both pieces. I need to find an inspiration suit... It's so hard with my massive boobs! I don't think they'll ever go away...
I'm looking forward to a 24 day challenge.. DH lost 15 lbs half a$$ing it when we first got pregnant, and my friend that had twins 3 months ago is already in her size 8 jeans after doing it... It's kind of expensive, but totally worth it! Let me know if you are interested in trying it, I can get you more info
I'd love to hear more about it! There's so many options out there-I love hearing about all of them.
They shipped the top this morning, so there's no going back on that. I'm going to get a ton of crap from dh about it, but secretly, I'm glad it shipped. I really love the suit. I found the bottom part on another site, so I think I could order it from that site. We have five $100 gift cards being given away at our company meeting tonight, and I'm in the pool. I'm crossing my fingers I win it. Dh needs new running shoes, so I'm hoping that by giving him the gift card, I'll win back the good will I need to get the bottom of the bathing suit, which I can get in a few weeks when he's not freaking out about the whole situation.
This is my twisted way of thinking about spending money.
