Gallbladder check

I have to have one in the morning because of pains I had a couple weeks ago when I spent the night in triage. I know I can't eat or drink after midnight and that I'm having my sonogram anyway, but what kind of test do they do to check it at this point? I've never had mine checked anyway.

    same thing they use to check your baby, sonogram.  They would normally inject a contrast dye for a better view, but they may not since you are pregnant. (im not sure if that has any effect on the baby).  BUT me being the wuss that I am, I requested not to have the dye injection and requested they try and see it without the dye.  Which they did, and I had an entire gallbladder full of stones.  They took it out with laproscopicly(sp) but I was 18, Im not sure what they do now. 

     

    Good luck!!! They say passing gallstones is worse than childbirth. I passed out, its hardcore.

    I am a July 11 mom who accidently clicked on the wrong board.  I had gallbladder issues and they sent me for an ultrasound.  They didn't use any dye, I was 16 weeks at the time.  I had to keep to a really low fat diet or I paid the price in pain.  Good thing was mine was inflamed, no stones that they could see and the pain went away after i gave birth.

    You can have gallbladder "attacks" if you have a dysfunctional gallbladder or are passing one or two stones.  If they are just checking for more stones, they will probably just do the ultrasound of the gallbladder.  You could have stones that don't show up on the ultrasound, but unless you are in pain they will probably just leave it at that.  I had a test for the function of mine that involved a dye or radioactive isotope or something, but they probably won't do that for you while you are pregnant unless you have another attack that warrants a closer look.  GL, and hope everything turns out well!

    I had to have mine checked a few weeks ago due to pains that I was having in my right side (under my bra line, front and back). They did an ultrasound but could not see much because all my organs are squished together. They did not use contrast dye.  (The plus side is that the ultrasound tech got some great pics of LO's face).They also did bloodwork to check how my organs are functioning. They said there isn't much more they can do during pregnancy. GL!

    I had mine removed two years ago because I had gall stones, but they didnt give me any dye, they just used an ultrasound to see the stones.  You get attacks after fatty meals.  The severity of the attacks differs, but mine felt like I was dying. Just incredible pain and vomiting.  It was awful.  Getting that thing out was the best thing that I ever did.
