Painting baby's nails?

I don't think I would paint her finger nails because she is always chewing on her fingers. But what do you think about toes? She can't get hers inher mouth (not for lack of trying). Since she never wears shoes I thought it would be cute. Any thoughts/concerns?

I thought about doing it, but my daughter just figured out how to get her toes in her mouth. So it's a no go for now lol

  • It's probably fine.  I'd suggest getting kid friendly nail polish.

I had friends who were identical twins, and their mother told them apart by painting the big toenail on one of them.  That way they wouldn't get mixed up accidentally.  She did it until they were big enough for her to tell them apart.

  • I'd only do it if I had identical twins that I needed to tell apart.

  • I guess my concern is that it is too "adult". Like a little girl in heels or wearing a string bikini. I'm wondering if it is seen that way by others. To me it just seems cute.

  • I was painting A's toe nails but recently stopped bc she just started putting her feet into her mouth.

A little tip if you do paint them, do it while she is dead asleep and dont touch the bottom or her feet (bc if you do she will probably crunch them up and then you will get nail polish everywhere. LOL)

Also I painted Anas nails about every 3-4 days bc she was constantly rubbing the polish off when she wiggled and stuff. I personally have no problem with painting her nails I think its super cute and everyone that saw them thought it was cute as well.

  • I paint dd1's finger and toes ALL the time. We use piggy paint that is nontoxic so we don't have to worry much about it. It usually chips off in a day or so. There isn't even a need to use nail polish remover.

I did paint dd2's big toes the other day. She was in her bouncer next to us while I was doing dd1's nails so I decided to give it a try. No big deal for us.

Oh, my husbands was concerned about using "adult" colors on her. He doesnt want her wearing bright red, or as he calls it "whores red." so we have lots of pinks, blues, yellows. Not really the most traditional nail colors, but she loves them.

  • I just think there's too many chemicals in nail polish, that it's probably not a good idea unless you get one of the natural/no chemical brands.
