Ok, what exactly is lightening crotch?

I was on the couch last night watching a movie with H and all of a sudden I felt this "kick" down low in my pubic area. I didn't expect it and sort of screamed a little. Didn't hurt but it was an odd feeling. Is this lightening crotch that I experienced? I've heard the term used on TB before but I'm not sure.

For me, lightening crotch doesnt feel like a "kick", its more of what describe as an electric shock pain. Its almost like someone is zapping a nerve directly in your hoo-ha.

I agree with this. It's more like an electric shock, like a nerve zap in your vag.

Like PPs said, it is has nothing to do with the baby kicking, it is a shooting pain that you feel all the way down in your vag area. Sometimes it only happens once and stops and sometimes it keeps happening until you go cross-eyed. lol

Never heard of lightening crotch, but I'll put that on my list of crazy pregnancy phenomena to look forward to.

Anyone else get bowling ball crotch? I feel like I have a bowling ball sitting in my pelvic inlet and just weighing down on me. I've felt that during my periods too when they are particularly heavy. yeesh.

yup this. I have yet to feel it this pregnancy but I am not looking forward to it.

I get lightening crotch & bowling ball crotch. So fun. I've been doing a prenatal yoga DVD and she mentioned doing kegels to help with that "full feeling down there" ha ha ha. It does seem to help a little.
