Hi Ladies. I might need someone to talk me off the crazy ledge. I am CD13. did clomid 50 mg cd3-7. Had my u/s & bloodwork checked Thursday & was told that I have a 13,12 & 11 mm follie & a whole bunch that were less than 10. The plan was to come back again Monday morning for a recheck before doing IUI #1 Tues.
My problem is that I just got a positive opk. I had the on call dr paged & havent heard back yet. I have my ovidrel & don't know if Im supposed to do it now or if itd be a waste since Im already having my own LH surge. I'm guessing the on call doc will tell me to trigger & do IUI monday. Does that sound right? What would you do? Why can't my body just do what its supposed to for once?! Thanks!

Re: Help! WW3TD
So its your first positive OPK? I know I won't be much help b/c I get like 6 positives before I O so getting the first one doesn't phase me. I would think they may want you to come in tomorrow, hopefully they'll call you back real soon.
As far as doing the trigger or not, my RE has always had me do the trigger even with my own LH surge. I think you are right though, they'll probably have you trigger tomorrow night and go in for the IUI Monday.
Good luck!!

My RE office doesnt do weekends, that why they had my come in on thurs. If I was big enough then I would have triggered in the office & done IUI the next day.
I just heard back from some random dr from the answering service & she was totally overwhelmed by what I was asking & said she couldnt answer me & to call back the answering service. Seriously? Im so tempted to just do the ovidrel!
also, if I have to tell them Im not pregnant & I am in IF patient one more time, Im gonna cry.

PAIF/SAIF welcome!
Oh my gosh, that is terrible the Dr. didn't know what to tell you. And that is crazy about your RE not doing weekends. My office doesn't do pg testing or monitoring, but in your case, I think they would see you b/c its likely you could do the IUI tomorrow.
I don't think I'd do the Ovidrel tonight in the off chance that it has you ovulate tomorrow and you miss Monday's IUI. I hate you are in this situation, I'd be pretty freaked out.
((hugs)) I hope everything holds off until Monday and your IUI goes off without a hitch. The very best of luck coming your way! I hate when our bodies don't act right.

do not take the ovidrel until you talk to someone! even if your follies grew 2 mm a day (which is on the faster end than normal), that 13 would only be a 17 right now which is NOT ready to trigger.
WAIT to talk to someone, or call in the morning, you are not instantly ovulating with a positive opk. do some yoga breathing, chillax!
This, do not just trigger yourself based on one OPK. an OPK detects an LH surge and you can ovulate 12-48 hours after one, or not at all. Call back in the AM and try to get someone else to answer.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this. My bloodwork during my last cycle showed an LH surge, and they had me trigger right away, but you don't want to do this without your physician's instruction.
From the parts I've bolded, I need to ask - Is your RE actually an OB that "specializes in IF"? I cannot understand how an RE would a) not have weekend hours, b) have a physician on call that could not answer this simple question, and c) not automatically assume you were calling about IF, NOT pregnancy.
You might want to consider switching after this cycle if it's an option. These are HUGE red flags for me.
((Hugs)) love. Do you have PCOS? Because PCOS can cause falsely positive OPK's. Surging with follies that are that small seems unlikely.

I would not take the trigger unless a doctor tells you to! This happened to me with my last treatment cycle (although we were just doing TI). It worked out ok for me though because we were just told to try 'now' on our own, basically the only thing missing was the trigger shot.
Are you seeing a OB or a RE? I know there's some REs who do not do weekends, but the only time I ran into monitoring appointment issues was when I did two cycles with my OB who specializes in IF. She was great, did everything my RE does (u/'s and b/w), but is not an EXPERT in the field, KWIM? Not to mention 9 times out of 10, the nurses or doctors on call had no idea what I was calling about until I re-explained everything, every time. A REs office caters to those dealing with IF and will likely have a quick response and protocol in place for situations like this.

Thanks everyone for the input. Sorry I havent updated sooner. I am not PCOS, But I tend to O pretty quickly after my surge. I called the answering service again & was contacted by my RE at 11pm Saturday night. He told me that since I was already starting the ovulation process on my own, the ovidrel wouldn't do much, but I could take it if I wanted to. I didnt take it. He said that instead of monitoring on monday, we'd do the IUI & that he'd call the nurses to set it up for me. He was predicting I would O on Sunday, but the IUI would still be okay to do.
I know that I panicked. It was my first IUI & things weren't happening how we had planned. Thanks everyone for the thoughts & care!
