Having a hard time...

I don't know how people deal with being on bed rest.  My husband works every day from now until induction day. My mom is being getting everything done for taking time off.  And all of my friends work.  I have never felt so lonely! I can't seem to find anything productive to do to keep myself busy.  And am not allowed to do the things that need done.  I feel for the women who have been doing this for weeks. It's been four days for me and I'm already going crazy.  Of course the hormones make me cry all the time and that isn't helping.

Re: Having a hard time...

  • I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.  Although I haven't been on bed rest, my doctor did take me out of work over a month ago due to extreme back problems .  Needless to say, I haven't been very mobile lately and the back pain has gotten progressively worse to the point where it is painful to do any walking.  I picked up some very informative books and have been doing quite a bit of reading since being taken out of work.  Although it's not being up and around getting things done, it helps me to feel that I am at least getting myself more prepared for when the baby arrives.  If you haven't already, you may want to think about getting some good books yourself.  Best wishes!

  • I know how you feel :( I was on bed rest from 32 weeks to 35 weeks due to pre-term labor.

Out of curiosity, now that you are beyond full term, can you not just be off bed rest?

I was wondering about this too.

However, as someone who was on hospital bedrest for 24 days, I know what you mean! However, for me, I made it a point to try to make the best of it.  One suggestion is to start watching a series you have never seen before, like Dexter or Game of Thrones, and get the DVDs from Blockbuster or Netflix and start watching the entire season and/or series.  You will find that you can really burn some time, and it is enjoyable.

GL and I hope that your bedrest gets a little easier!

  • I'm not on complete bed rest.  But because of the preE they want me to do as little as possible to keep my blood pressure down.  I guess if it goes to high it can cause severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, etc, and then I have to be induced earlier.   I think I just got a case of Debbie downer today.  I'm sure I will snap out of it! :)

  • I am so sorry you are going through this, I am too same reason pre-e.  My parents pick up DS so I can do as little as possible.  So much needs to be done around the house and my DH is working until the scheduled c-section of if I go into labor.

It makes me crazy just laying around.

  • We are getting so close! I'm trying to be positive.  It's just the pregnancy hormones! :)
