Tide question

I've started having ammonia problems using RnG in my HE FL, and I'm considering switching to Tide. My grocery store only carries Tide Ultra (HE). Can I use that, or should I track down some real Tide Original? Or alternatively, should I just order Tiny Bubbles? If you've used Tide Ultra, how much do you use? 1-2 Tbsp? Thanks for your help!

Re: Tide question

  • Yes, that is the most basic Tide available now.  I use to the 1st line on the scoop for my top loader (it's an HE, but has a setting that fully fills the tub like an old style would do).  I was having all sorts of stink when I wasn't using enough detergent.  I just make sure it rinses well.

  • The HE version should work for you.

I just started with Tide. I use about 2tbsp (1/2 way to the first line). I figured I'd start with 1/2 the amount recommended for my top loader and go from there. Like the pp I just watch the rinse to make sure everything is rinsing out. I also was switching from RnG.

  • It's next to impossible to find Regular Tide powder anymore, you can use the Ultra.

I use Tiny Bubbles and love it - but Tide was going to be my next choice if it didn't work.  I have allergy issues with Tide, but I haven't tried it on the boys.  Anything to get off of RnG!!

I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

  • I also use Tide and it's the Ultra. I read they don't make the original, original. I haven't had any problems yet and I use halfway up to the first line. Wal-Mart has Tide Ultra HE and regular. Sometimes they are hidden behind all the HE ones.

I've been seeing this a lot lately.  What is it that people are not liking with Rockin' Green?  I've had no issues (but I have very soft water).

I have hard water so I'm blaming that on RnG not working for us.

  • If I had to choose between Tide HE and Tiny Bubbles, I'd buy Tiny Bubbles any day of the week.  It works great in hard water, and I don't worry about all the extra chemicals in it.  You can buy it by the case at Costco free shipping 6 boxes 60 bucks working out to something like .17 cents a load, whereas the last tide I bought was .24 cents a load.
