So for 3 weeks I had no issues besides discomfort the next day with the PIO Injections. I read someone that if you put a heating pack (i use one of those ones filled with beads and is microwavable.. just love the smell of them!) on it helps spread the oil/reduce discomfort.
WELL since I started that... I've started noticing I'm getting hives at some of the old injection sites.... They come and go- like if i sit down for a while or take a shower they come out. So i stopped the heat on Monday and they seem to be going away slowly...there still itchy when I shower.. and really red from scratching (i know i know...)
I call the RE and she didnt seem to be worried... I told her it just started and for all the other weeks it was fine. They did offer me supposortories (spelling?) on Monday - but the injections are easier.. i hate messy
.... and she said if it gets to a point that I just cant bear them any more I can switch but didn't seem concerned about the hives.
any of you experience this as well after being on the PIO injections for awhile? Should I be concerned? Should I switch off the shots? WWYD?

Re: Hives - PIO Injections and Heating Pack?
This subject read like exactly what im experiencing. Now that i think about it, my "hives" are worse since starting with the heating pack. My RE suggested Benedryl topical anti-itch cream. Its a bit better, but man...still itchy. She actually said that if it gets worse we may have to switch the type of oil because i could be allergic to it. Unfortunately im already doing the vaginal inserts as well, so i have to stick with the PIO.
If you figure it out...spread the word. Im sure a lot of ladies could use some advice. Cant wait to get off the PIO!

Yes she said that I can take bendryl- think I may just use the topical rather than the pills. Of course all of my hydrocortozone creams in my house were expired! WTH..
How are the inserts?... im freaked out to take them... the blue discharge is enough for me from my Estrace that I have to take vaginally...
New question: How long are women normally on the PIO after IVF? I Know im on them until after my Ultrasound on the 25.. (will be about 5 weeks on them at that point)

Im using the topical and it works a bit...still pretty itchy though.
Honestly...the inserts are way better than the Estrace if you are already accustomed to doing that. I had to do both for a while. There is a little white discharge...but it comes with an easy applicator and its really easy to do. if you have the option, id go with that. I unfortunately have to do both. As far as timing goes, im at 6w and still doing the PIO. Im hoping after my ultrasound next week that i'll get more clarity. I HATE it.
