I just got back from my appointment and they did an estimation during my bpp sono and are estimating that she is 8lbs 10oz!!! Luckily I am not going to my full 40 weeks, I am being induced next Thursday. I am hoping you ladies tell me that I should not be concerned because these things are wrong sometimes. I know about the 1lb difference but I would like to hear your story.....
Re: How off was the weight estimate of your baby?
I had an u/s on a Monday before because of too much fluid and they said the baby was AT LEAST 8 lbs, 2 oz.
He arrived two days later weighing in at 7 lbs, 1.5 oz.
So just a about a lb less than they said.
DD was estimated to be 9lbs via an ultrasound at 40 weeks. I had her 2 days later and she weighed 9 lbs 6 oz....sorry I know that's not what you want to hear! This was also with my dr. Insisting that the ultrasound was way off and there was no way she was bigger than 8 lbs.

I had a growth u/s the day DS was born. He measured 6lbs15oz on the u/s but was only 6lbs5oz at birth.
true. Larger baby gets the harder it is to measure correctly and its all based on a 'generalized' formula in the machine so its an averages thing.
These stories make me nervous since LO has been measuring big all along and I was told he/she was already just over 8lbs 2 weeks ago.
With DS, I had an u/s 5 days before I had him. I think they said something like 7 lbs 8 oz, with a lb difference +/-. All along my OB said he was measuring behind small so I thought the possibility of a 8 1/2 lb baby was ridiculous. Sure enough, he was 5 lbs 15 oz but 20 inches. I think his length and large head size contributed to the scan being so far off.
I am getting monthly growth scans with DD and today they estimated her at 6 lbs 10 oz. I can tell that she is very long, her feet alone are very long. Also, he head looks big like DS' did. I am very anxiously waiting to see how right/wrong they are.
