I've been waiting to get into the fertility/endocrinologist for a month and now I?m too antsy to wait an additional 24 hours, appointment is tomorrow. Does anyone have an idea what will happen. No AF since I got of BC over 6 month ago. The results of my MRI showed a small 2 mm pituitary adenoma. I have very low estrogen but other levels fine. The progesterone challenge didn't work with me, and then we tried it with estrogen first and that didn't work either. Does anyone have any guesses what they will do next, it probably will be more consultation for first appointment, I think.
Thanks!
Re: What should I expect at RE?
My first appointment was mainly a consultation since I had already had almost all of my initial infertility workup completed with my OB. I brought all of my medical records from the initial testing, as well as my charts for the previous 14 months. He did have another 5 vials of blood drawn for the infectious disease blood panel, and did an internal u/s.
Since your issue is different than mine was, I am not sure what testing he/she will order, but I am assuming they will come up with a testing plan, and write up a treatment plan after all of your tests come back.
** After 2 1/2 years of Unexplained IF, 2 failed medicated cycles, and 4 failed IUI's - our baby girl came to us through the miracle of Mini IVF! **
First thing, we met in his office and talked for a good bit about my medical history and TTC journey.
Eat something before you go, they are going to run a TON of bloodwork - the full work-up. My RE did all diagnosis testing as well as the pre-procedural disease/infection testing in case we have to move onto IUI or IVF.
I also had an exam with the doctor, think annual exam with your OB plus a little extra.
Even though I had the full CD3 and 7DPO bloodwork, HSG, and my husband's SA... I still had all my levels checked again at my first visit. Maybe b/c they were 8 months old.
Probably. Mine had just been done the month before, so they were "fresh" :P

We started with the RE just asking DH and I a bunch of questions. Then I had a date with the dildocam and the RE squeezed my nipples (I'm not kidding). He then explained all of the different treatment options and we set up a plan for CD 3 bloodwork. After the bloodwork and another SA, we had another appointment to go over the testing and get his "recommendation" for a treatment plan. I'm not overly thrilled with my RE, as I feel like he is selling IVF. I'd suggest bringing a notebook to write down some information, because there will be a lot thrown at you. Good luck!
