Recc you (non drilling) cabinet locks.

we would like to child proof the cabinets that contain household cleaners and the bathroom/beauty products. Our cabinets don't have knobs and we prefer not to drill into them. Anyone know of any no drill ones that work well and don't cost a fortune? TIA!

  • We use these in the kitchen and the bathroom. They are easy to install and the size is adjustable. So far they have taken quite a beating form Ash, who is determined to get through them, and they are holding up great. We got them at Target.

i had one of these in my bathroom for dd1 and it finally just broke.  so that's three years of abuse.  i agree these are great locks.

the kitchen locks we got were the kind that need to be attached with screws, and i can't recommend them anyway because dd1 broke through them pretty quickly.

  • I don't think those will work if her cabinets don't have knobs right. We don't have knobs either, we are using the magnetic ones, they are pricey but they are the only thing i found that we wouldnt have to drill. So far they have worked well and I like that I can unlock them when ds gets older and then lock them again when needed,

We had that kind but it was impossible to open with the way our cabinets are...so they were essentially adult proof, too!  But, then we saw a recall on them, so we returned them.

I just looked into the recall because we still have these locks and were unaware of the recall. It only affects Safety 1st Push ?n Snap Cabinet Lock, Model Nos. 48442 and 48391 manufactured prior to December, 2010.  Our locks were not affected by the recall. Here is a link to the website in case anyone needs to check their locks:

Although we still keep our kitchen cabinets locked, I decided to move all of our cleaning products out into a storage cabinet that's on the porch, with the exception of a couple of things that I use on a daily basis. Those things are going into a cabinet above the sink. It's on my list of things to do. I read that suggestion on the 9-12 month forum b/c a lot of people there said that eventually, a lot of LO's will figure out how to use the safety locks anyway.
