Our first baby was in congenital heart failure before his heart defects were found. (He's now thriving today after receiving life-saving open heart surgery.) We have an NT test in a couple weeks w/the MFM to start looking for markers of heart defects, and will have our first baby's cardiologist do an fetal echo around 18weeks, as well as with the MFM. We're not terribly stressed since we know the various situations of what to expect if there is a heart defect in the baby and also because the chances of having another 'heart baby' is very slim, but it's definitely still on our minds. Has anybody here been through this as well? Either with a second child with CHDs or 'heart healthy'?

Re: Anyone else pregnant after having a "heart baby"?
My son had to have heart surgery too. His heart and lungs didn't fuse together right so he had two leaking valves and some sort of a hole. He is 8 yrs old now.
I am pregnant with twins this time around and so I haven't 'had' the babies yet. I have no advice other then positive thoughts! I was told its not too common it will happen more then once to the same person.
Good luck!
DS has an atrial septal defect and 2nd degree heart block.
I'm currently pregnant again. We got the NT test done, I've had weekly fetal echos since 18 weeks (and will until 32 weeks), and then at 32 weeks I have 2x weekly NSTs and BPPs.
I have antibodies that cause the heart block (which is why so much monitoring). The pediatric cardiologist assues us every week that the ASD is not as common.
Positive thoughts and lots of prayer get me through most days.
(((HUGS))) and good luck!
