Membrane stripping (Did it work for you)

Hey ladies! I'm 38 wks today and on kiddo #2. Had the membranes stripped this morning at 3cm, 50% effaced and -1 station. If you've had this done before did it work? I'm keeping my fingers crossed even though I know I still have 2 weeks till due date. Also, primrose oil...did it work for you at all? Doc told me it was ok to use even after I had my membranes stripped. TIA!

I was 3cm and 50% effaced at my 38w appointment last Monday. I had my membranes stripped (I think it was about 10:30 am) and I went into labor at 2 am that evening!! So I would definitely say it worked, although I also went on a long walk that day, did squats, and had sex which also probably helped.

Excellent. Glad to hear a story where it worked! I already took a long walk and I'm 3 squats deep. Now to just wait for my man to get get off work to get this show on the road....maybe

It worked for me. I was 40 weeks and had DS 48 hours later.

Yes, I had some spotting in the hours just after. I actually went to L&D the night of the membrane stripping and was sent home. The nurse in triage was pissed my dr had done the stripping because she said it just aggrivates things inside sometimes. I actually was in labor, it just took a long time to get going. I was back in the hospital the next night at 6.5 cent and had DS the next morning!

Ok got cha. I just noticed a little blood about 30 minutes ago but I'm sure it could also be from the doc riping me open. I've just been having my normal amount of braxton hicks contractions since.

I had an appt this morning and when the Dr walked in she goes, "Well I'm surprised to see you here today because I stripped your membranes last week, you must have a cervix of steel" ha gee thanks..I was 2cm 50% effaced, she did it again today and then goes look, theres not even any blood on my fingers (gross) she goes you definitely have a cervix of steel...she scheduled me an induction for next wed

For DS, I was 39 weeks, 3 cm and 50% effaced. Then Dr man-hands stripped my membrane and there was blood all over her hand. I had already lost my MPs by that time and spotted afterwards. She told me to walk A LOT and have sex. Well, I had to go to work so I couldn't walk until afterwards and we had sex that night. I didn't go into labor and got induced 5 days later. Sorry, I'm no help

It did for me but I was 40 weeks, 2 days.

I had them stripped Wednesday morning, contractions started Wednesday night and she was born Friday night.

Good luck! And to answer your other question, I had NO bleeding after my membranes were stripped. Not even any questionable discharge.

I'm a FTM and also had my membranes sweeped this morning (I'm 40 weeks) and I have been having spotting, backache and cramping since this morning. I'm hoping the pain picks up because otherwise I'll be expecting a call to be induced tomorrow. Did anyone else have back pain and cramping that eventually turned into contractions?
